Welcome Message
Greetings! We are pleased to invite you to our 2012
General Medicine Update which will take place on
Saturday, 11th of August 2012. This year, we will revisit
familiar topics in view of recent emerging evidence.
In recent times, the public hospitals have had to deal
with a surge of admissions, including those related
to pneumonia. Our first speaker will take us through
the updates of pneumonia and enlighten us when a
patient with pneumonia can be managed confidently
in the outpatient setting.
How low should the LDL cholesterol be treated to
in patients with increased cardiovascular risk? Are
statins really free from long term side effects? Our
second speaker will update us on current evidence.
Lastly, the old dilemma of whether to use aspirin in
primary prevention will be discussed. Do the benefits
really outweigh the risks?
These topics have been chosen based on some
of your suggestions and we look forward to your
participation.
