TTSH Photo COmpetition 2012

Care is all around. We witness it in our daily lives, we feel it when we are with out loved ones, and we show it even to strangers whose paths have crossed ours. It happens instinctively; the very essence that makes the world go round.

TTSH is organising an island-wide photo competition to encourage creativity and expression through the arts. Photography is a friendly platform for anyone to embark on – be it an amateur or seasoned photographer, every picture holds meaning to each individual. We encourage participants to open their minds and eye view to explore and discover the various ways people, or things exude care.

Stand a chance to win attractive prizes and have your entry piece exhibited at our Founder's Day event at TTSH's main Atrium. The exhibition will be held for two weeks.

Theme - Care. Is.

In conjunction with TTSH's 168th Founder's Day celebrations in July, we want to spread the cheer to the community and beyond by encouraging everyone to grab their cameras and take a picture that you feel best express what care is. Be it people, flora and fauna, landscapes or architectures, take a picture which you feel reflects care in creative ways and send it to us!

Criteria for judging:

  1. Creativity/originality
  2. Rationale/concept of photo – tell us a story through the picture!

Entry Submission

  1. All photos submitted must be of original work.
  2. All submissions must be accompanied by the official entry form. You can download the entry form here.
  3. Photos should be submitted as high resolution digital (soft copy) files on a CD-rom, DVD or via email to care-is@ttsh.com.sg. Each photographer may submit a maximum of TWO original photo.
  4. Each digital photo file must have a resolution of 6 million pixels or greater (6 megapixels), in JPEG or JPG format. Resolution can be calculated by multiplying the pixel width of the image with the pixel height. For example, a photograph taken with a 6-megapixel camera set for the highest resolution and best quality produces images approximately 2832 pixels by 2128 pixels, which are acceptable under the rules (2832 x 2128 = 6 million).
  5. Images that do not meet this standard can still be judged, but might not be eligible for the exhibition (at the judges' sole discretion) if the photographer is unable or unavailable to provide the proper resolution when requested.
  6. All photos submitted will be featured on TTSH Facebook and participants can garner "likes" for their submitted piece. The number of "likes" will not determine the winners, but will have added advantage during judging.
  7. All CDs / DVDs submitted will not be returned. TTSH will not be responsible for any lost or damaged entries.
  8. Images taken on camera phones are eligible for this competition, but will not be eligible to be featured in the exhibition.
  9. All photos submitted must be of original work.
  10. Competition closes 25 June 2012.

Entry forms and CDs / DVDs may be submitted by mail to the following address or hand delivered to the Information Counter at the TTSH lobby in a single envelope labelled "TTSH Island-wide Photo Competition".

Prizes

  1. Top Prize: $200 Cash + $300 Cathay Photo Vouchers
  2. 2nd Prize: $150 Cash + $200 Cathay Photo Vouchers
  3. 3rd Prize: $100 Cash + $100 Cathay Photo Vouchers

Reproduction of Images

  1. By entering the contest, the participant agrees to allow TTSH to use the photos, with credits, in its publicity materials and collaterals, without any fee payment.
  2. People whose faces are captured in the entry pieces must have given consent to be featured.

Results

  1. Shortlisted entries will be displayed at a photo exhibition held at the TTSH Atrium from 18 July to 3 August 2012.  
  2. The shortlisted finalists will be announced on 30 June 2012. Top three finalists will be announced on TTSH's Founder's Day on 25 July 2012.
  3. The judges' decision is final and no appeals will be entertained.
