Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) encourages the teamwork of staff and volunteers to provide the best possible care to our patients, and to educate the community on our cause. Volunteers enrich patients' quality of life through personalised attention, and their involvement allows staff to focus on patient care.
Volunteerism has come a long way at TTSH. In fact, the hospital was built on the vision and efforts of our first volunteer -- our founder, Mr Tan Tock Seng himself. He played an instrumental role in gathering other like-minded philanthropists to raise funds for Singapore’s first hospital dedicated to the poor.
As we fast forward to the 21st century, the spirit of volunteerism is still very much alive at TTSH. Sharing a common vision of "Adding years of healthy life to the people of Singapore”, our volunteers’ important contributions have made a difference to the lives of our patients, staff and the hospital as a whole. Their presence and selfless work are living proof that the legacy of caring and humanitarianism established by Mr Tan Tock Seng still lives on today.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life and every one brings with them something unique to complement each other in the TTSH team of volunteers and staff.
Volunteers can be found actively serving throughout TTSH. The hospital runs a Volunteer Programme comprising 17 groups of volunteers and patient support groups, some under the auspices of volunteer welfare organisations.
