Some of the key programmes under our Needy Patients Programme include:
HELP (Help the ElderLy Patients) Programme
Many of our elderly patients suffer from complex and chronic conditions. These patients need long-term medical treatment.
Some of them have little savings or family support. The HELP programme caters to the healthcare needs of our aging population.
MovE (Moving with Ease) Programme
Many elderly patients also have mobility problems. Some need walking aids and prostheses to help them in their daily activities. This programme helps patients walk/move bettter with orthopedic treatment, rehabilitation, rheumatology and the purchase of walking aids.
See Better Programmes
This programme ensures patients are given adequate treatment so that their sight will not be compromised because of financial difficulties.
Hear Better Programmes
This programme assists needy patients, both young and old, who may be losing or have lost their hearing and/or speech capabilities, due to age, injuries or illnesses.
"Living Breath" Programme
This programme helps patients cope better and recover from lung diseases or other respiratory conditions. (i.e. in the purchase or rental of breathing aids etc.)
Stopping SID! (Serious Infectious Diseases) Programme
This programme looks into areas of stopping diseases (Avian Influenza, SARS, HIV/AIDS, TB & other infectious diseases) and helping patients with their treatment and non-subsidised medication.
Our Patient Care Centre provides support specifically to patients living with HIV/AIDS.
The Patient Care Centre (PCC) was set up in 1996 to provide assistance for HIV/AIDS patients and their families. The centre helps them cope with their conditions and provides financial and moral support (counselling).
The centre also aims to increase HIV/AIDS awareness. Social stigma must be removed or reduced so that HIV/AIDS patients can contiune to play an active role in the workforce.
Here several initiatives are in place to help patients help themselves. The Sponsor-a-Worker Scheme is a social enterprise, aimed at boosting patients' confidence and enhancing their skills level.
Ideally, they can be rehabilitated into the workforce.
However, for the very young or extremely poor, the Emergency Start-Up Fund provides the much needed financial assistance for them to continue their medical treatment. In fact, medication alone comes up to about $30,000 a year for a single patient!
This is why PCC organises various fundraising activities!
