Needy Patients
Our charity caters to needy patients of diverse background and conditions through our various Needy Patients Programmes.
Many middle income families can manage day-to-day expenses. However, if one member falls seriously ill, they would have difficulties coping. Sadly, many of these families are not eligible for welfare assistance because they belong to the 'sandwich class' (Not rich enough to afford medical bills yet not poor enough to qualify for public assistance).
The TTSH Community Charity Fund steps in to provide the necessary assistance when other avenues of help are insufficient or not available.
Medical Research
With life-threatening diseases like the Avian Influenza and SARS, many of us recognise the importance of medical research.
Vaccines and medicines developed in the west may not be suitable for Asians. Thus, the presence of a sophisticated medical research team is crucial, especially in times of an emergency like a worldwide flu epidemic.
The charity supports medical research to look for ways to prevent diseases, to find better treatment, cures or ways to lower the cost of treatment and medication.
Such commitment could benefit needy patients and our community.
Medical Education
Constant training or upgrading for medical professionals is crucial.
Our doctors and nurses need to keep up with the latest technologies to perform better in their jobs. Naturally, this will result in better and more effective patient care.
