Introduction

The Prosthetic and Orthotic Department serves both inpatients in the wards and outpatients at the Foot Care & Limb Design Centre. We provide Prosthetic and Orthotic services as well as Special Seating services.

For patients who have undergone limb amputation, our Prosthetist will assess, measure and fit upper and lower limb prostheses. We have a wide variety of prostheses available, often using the latest technology available for the most appropriate needs.

For patients with musculoskeletal or neuromuscular conditions, our Orthotist will assess, measure and fit the most suitable type of orthosis for your needs. We carry the latest variety in the industry to provide you with the best and most cost effective orthoses.

The Prosthetic and Orthotic Department also includes the Posture and Mobility Clinic. The clinic provides patients with needs, such as customised seating solutions and special wheelchairs. The clinic serves a wide spectrum of patients with disabilities ranging from Cerebral Palsy, Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy to Paraplegics. The clinic encompasses a team of professionals and technical support staff capable of assessing and fabricating complex support shapes to provide customised solutions. Within our arsenal of tools we also have the Second Generation Matrix Special Seating System. Besides having the ability to customise the support for individual patient's requirements it can also be extended to accommodate growth or re-shaped to changes in medical condition.
