The Department of Diagnostic Radiology is staffed by a large experienced team of subspecialty radiologists who offer a full range of radiological services, covering diagnostic as well as imaging-guided therapeutic procedures.
The department performs an average of 350,000 examinations each year. These include 24,000 ultrasound scans, 20,000 CT scans and 10,000 MR scans. Approximately 5,000 Interventional procedures and 4,000 fluoroscopic procedures are performed each year as well.
The department has adopted digital imaging technology fully and functions with a cutting edge Picture Archiving and Communication system with an integrated Voice-activated Radiology Information system. It provides radiological services to a number of external facilities including the NHG Polyclinics, NHG Mobile, Pier Medical Group and other private institutions. It is also a teaching and training centre for undergraduate students and postgraduate doctors. We accept overseas fellows and are especially recognised for subspecialty expertise in head and neck radiology, cardiac radiology, body imaging, musculoskeletal radiology, ultrasound and interventional radiology. Our staff has won local and international prizes for contributions to the specialty of Radiology and Clinical Quality practices.
