Introduction

The Geriatric Medicine Clinic aims to meet the special needs of older people, especially those who are frail. In particular, we have clinics that specially evaluate and treat older people with geriatric syndromes, functional decline and pain. In addition, geriatricians run their own individual clinics.

Services

The services offered to the patients are dependent on the nature of functional impairment and complexity of care required. Patients’ needs and care management are assessed in accordance with the scope of care and services provided by the medical and nursing staff.

The facilities available include consultation and treatment rooms, including a single room Sick Bay for frail older patients who need to lie down and rest while waiting for consultation or admission, and a small gym for Geriatric Rehabilitation.

The clinic is supported by various clinical support services located within the hospital. These include laboratory, diagnostic radiology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, podiatry, dietetics, care & counseling and nursing services.

	Elderly Pain Clinic	Chronic Pain in Older People Ambulant (be able to get out of bed / chair and walk with or without assistance) Accompanied by a close relative or caregiver, who is familiar with the patient's daily activities.
	Cognition and Memory Disorders Service	A complete evaluation may require two or three visits to the clinic. For patients who are already diagnosed to have dementia, but whose caregivers need counseling and information, appointments can be made directly with the Nurse Clinician (Dementia Care). Note: The Memory Clinic is a sub-specialty clinic. The health team will not be able to manage other medical problems these patients might have. They will still need to see other doctors for these problems.
