Spine Surgery

Spine surgery is a growing subspeciality that is evolving rapdily. With time, more and more people are experiencing neck and/or back pain that may require a spine consultation.

Here in TTSH, we offer a comprehensive range of services for patients with spine problems. We colloborate very closely with our partners in the National Neuroscience Institute, Radiology Department, Rehabilitation Department, chronic pain service, John Hopkins International and our ancillary health services to provide the best possible care for each type of spine pathology.

This multidisciplinary team allows us to treat a whole spectrum of spinal pathology including:

  • neck, arm, lower back and leg pain from degenerative conditions of the neck (spinal stenosis, disc prolapse)
  • fractures of the spinal column;
  • deformities of the spine like scoliosis, degenerative scoliosis, kyphosis;
  • tumours of the spine (intra- and extradural tumours), primary and metastatic tumours;
  • spine infections (bacterial, tuberculosis);
  • acute and subacute spinal cord injuries;

spine surgery

With the advent of better imaging, certain cases may be amenable to minimally invasive surgery. This decreases the post operative pain and shortens the hospitilisation period considerably. We have also acquired a CT-guided spinal navigation unit to enable safer insertio of implants to the spine and knee, lowering the risk of neural or vascular damage.
