Tan Tock Seng Hospital as part of National Healthcare Group is the first public healthcare institution outside of North America to be awarded Full Accreditation.
The Association for Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs Inc. or AAHRPP is the creation of seven non-profit founding member organisations including Association of American Medical Colleges, Association of American Universities and Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research.
AAHRPP is the only organisation in the world that performs accreditation of human subjects protection program since its incorporation in Apr 2001. It has accredited over 100 US and international institutions. AAHRPP accredited organisations must demonstrate they provide participant safeguards that surpass the threshold of regulatory requirements. The accreditation program utilises a voluntary, peer-driven, educational model.
Accreditation of the human subjects program is an international gold standard to ensure that human subjects in research are protected while encouraging investigators to engage in cutting edge research. Achieving AAHRPP accreditation establishes that the NHG Human Subjects Protections Program as one of the best in the world.
In TTSH we aim for excellence in research. To promote the pursuit of basic science, translational and clinical research and clinical trials in TTSH, CRU was established in 1997. Today, it has become the centre to administer, coordinate and facilitate all research activities in TTSH.
