The following conditions may benefit from CIM intervention.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is one of the key elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It is effective for physical, psychological and emotional problems. The method involves using extremely fine, hair-thin needles that are both flexible and sterile. The needles are placed on certain special points (which are called "acu-points") of the energetic pathways relating to the organs, muscles and nerves of the human body's surface. Needles placed on these acu-points treat or prevent diseases by stimulating and regulating these special points
There are 2 types of acupuncture services provided:
- Traditional acupuncture based on TCM theories, performed by TCM physicians
- Medical acupuncture based on understanding of anatomy, physiology and disease pathology from modern Medcine perspective. This is performed by Western physicians who are also trained in TCM acupuncture.
Cupping
Cupping is an ancient technique that has found its place in the modern world of healing. Cupping involves the use of warmed glass jars to create suction on certain points of the body affected by pain. Through suction, cupping releases rigid soft tissue; drain excess fluids and toxins; loosen adhesions and lift connective tissue; and bring blood flow to stagnant skin and muscles.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion is an important treating method of the TCM. It involves the burning of Chinese herbs around the acu-points, close to the skin. It creates a warm sensation and enhances the treatment effects.
