Introduction to Nursing

An integral part of the healthcare team, nurses work closely with doctors to ensure patients’ smooth and successful recuperation. Three major appointments of nurses are:

  1. Enrolled Nurses, who administer our patients’ treatments and medications under a direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  2. Registered Nurses, who assess, plan, provide and evaluate preventive, curative and rehabilitative care for patients in a wide variety of settings.
  3. Specialised Nurses, who are well versed in patient care and medical knowledge, with skills in equipment and facilities management as well as ward management.

Why Nursing?

Embarking on a career in nursing provides many opportunities for professional growth and career advancement. With the sense of purpose from serving the needy, nursing is definitely a significant and meaningful career.

How Do I Become A Nurse?

  1. Enrolled Nurse: National ITE Certificate (NITEC) in Nursing.
  2. Registered Nurse: Diploma in Nursing from Nanyang Polytechnic, or Diploma in Health Sciences (Nursing) from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, or a Recognised Nursing Degree.
  3. All nurses must be registered with the Singapore Nursing Board.
