Dear Partners and Friends,

The case for digitalisation has never been stronger. Digital solutions can provide a safe way for consumers and businesses to manage their day-to-day tasks during crises without compromising their health or safety. As more people are practising social distancing, many of their daily routines now rely on the online world.

In healthcare, going digital means we need to rethink the relationships between information, people, and processes given the new and evolving capabilities. It means, designing user experiences and workflows across channels, leveraging existing and new data sources and analytics, along with the unique capabilities of mobile to streamline processes and improved experiences.

In this issue, we take a look at how a few of our Central Health partners have tapped on technology to change the way they work and how it has made a difference in the everyday lives of the people in our community. Lions Befrienders and TOUCH Community Services worked closely with healthcare providers to provide telemedicine and telehealth services to our seniors, to ensure that they continue to receive care safely and remain healthy even during this pandemic. The two partners also imparted seniors with digital knowledge and skills for them to stay connected while staying at home.

This September, we commemorate World Alzheimer’s Month. Our partners from the Ang Mo Kio, Toa Payoh-Bishan Sub-Zonal Partners’ Network are launching a series of webinars to promote Inclusive Dementia-Friendly Communities (IDFC). The webinars are part of our efforts to build local communities where a person with dementia could be understood, respected, supported and engaged as member of an inclusive community.

The need for social distancing doesn’t stop us from collaborating, sharing, learning and building ideas together. There are readily available online platforms that allow us to get the conversation started. We have included a start-up kit for Virtual Communities of Practice (VCoPs) in this issue. Do set up and join us soon.

Digitalisation is one key enabler of working in the new normal and we are featuring this to kick-off a series on working in the new normal. Do share with us more ideas and innovations that you have introduced to cope with this new environment. We look forward to learning from one another.
