Head and Neck Surgery/ Endocrine Surgery
For Head & Neck endocrine disorders involving the thyroid and parathyroid glands, we provide a comprehensive work up in the outpatient setting that aims to fast-track the diagnosis thereby reducing waiting times for results as well as reducing patient anxiety. Our specialists are trained in clinic ultrasound and biopsies of such tumours to ensure a rapid and accurate assessment is obtained.
We provide a comprehensive work-up and surgical treatment for other tumours involving the salivary glands (parotid and submandibular gland), the oral cavity (tongue, alveolus, buccal and palate) and the skin of the scalp, face and neck region.
Surgical management of the abdominal endocrine system involves the adrenal glands and pancreas. We provide a specialized assessment of such disorders in the outpatient setting and this may be followed by laparoscopic (keyhole) or open resection when indicated.
Advanced peritoneal cancers
Our surgeons are highly trained to perform cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and heated intra-peritoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) which is the standard treatment for advanced cancers involving the peritoneal lining. Such cancers may originate from the appendix, colon, rectum and ovaries. This specialized treatment is only available in a limited number of hospitals locally and is made possible through a close collaboration with our colleagues from the medical oncology and gynae-oncology disciplines.
Soft tissue cancers
We hold regular tumour board meetings with our colleagues in the orthopaedic, histopathology and oncology departments to provide a comprehensive management for soft tissue sarcomas. These rare tumours may arise within the abdomen or the pelvis and often require a combined team approach for a successful and complete resection.
