​Dr Clarissa Cheng is a Consultant with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital. She completed her undergraduate medical training in 2007 in the UK at St Bartholomew's and the Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry, with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, and Distinction in Clinical Practice. She was conferred Master of Medicine in Ophthalmology in 2012 and completed Specialist Ophthalmology training in 2015 with a Gold Medal.  She is also a Fellow of both the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (London) and the Academy of Medicine (Singapore). 

Dr Cheng was awarded the Human Manpower Development Program scholarship by Tan Tock Seng Hospital in 2017. She is a certified Retinal Surgeon having completed a fellowship in Manchester Royal Eye Hospital where she trained in small incision vitrectomy surgery. Her clinical areas of interest include Medical and Surgical Retina, Cataract and General Ophthalmology.

Apart from clinical work, Dr Cheng's other areas of interest include education and research. She was awarded the Top Teacher award as a registrar in 2014 and has been a Clinical Lecturer with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine since 2013, and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine since 2017. She has presented and published in numerous conferences and journals both locally and internationally. She served as the Assistant Head of Research in NHGEI from 2016 to 2017, secretariat of the Peer Review Learning Quality Assurance Committee in 2016 for the Department of Ophthalmology, and as executive member of Singapore Society of Ophthalmology from 2013-2015.
