​Dr Kau is a graduate of the National University of Singapore, having obtained his medical degree in 2004.

His keen interest in Orthopaedics led him to pursue advanced training in the specialty and he has trained with many orthopaedic specialists throughout Singapore. In 2014, Dr Kau obtained his post-graduate degree in Orthopaedics, and became a certified fellow in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh.

Dr Kau was awarded an overseas scholarship by the Human Manpower Development Program (HMDP) , Ministry of Health. He went on to complete his Fellowship in Adult Reconstruction Surgery in Southampton, United Kingdom. During his time there, his skills were honed by experts in the field of arthroplasty, which experience in unicompartment knee surgery, complex primary and revision hip surgery, with the use of 3D custom made implants.

Like many of his generation born and bred in Singapore, Dr Kau speaks limited dialects although he is constantly improving with the help of his patients. He is passionate about his craft and nothing puts a smile more on his face than seeing his patients do well after surgery.
