Dr James Wee graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2005, having been placed on the Dean's List. He completed his postgraduate specialist training in orthopaedic surgery and was appointed a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2015. He is a dual fellowship-trained surgeon in the sub-specialities of Hip & Knee Surgery and Foot & Ankle Surgery.

Dr Wee was awarded a scholarship to complete his Fellowship in Hip & Knee Surgery at Oxford University Hospitals in the UK, where he acquired expertise in complex revision total hip replacement and total knee replacement surgery. He underwent intensive training in partial knee replacement with the renowned inventor-surgeons of the Oxford Partial Knee system, which has the benefits of requiring a smaller skin incision and better recovery for patients after surgery.

He also completed a Fellowship in Foot & Ankle Surgery at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London, which is a prestigious fellowship programme in the UK's leading specialist orthopaedic hospital that manages complex cases referred from across the nation. His clinical interests in Foot & Ankle Surgery include complex trauma, sports injuries, neurological problems, and degenerative conditions.

In addition, he has a keen interest in the burgeoning field of Limb Reconstruction Surgery, which includes limb lengthening and limb deformity correction procedures. He has been trained in the surgical application of external ring fixators using Ilizarov techniques and Hexapod technology, and has experience with complex cases involving congenital deformities, trauma and deep infections.

Aside from his clinical work, Dr Wee's other passion lies with medical education. He has been appointed as Adjunct Assistant Professor with the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (Nanyang Technological University - Imperial College London) and is the school's Principal Lead for orthopaedic surgery. He has also been appointed as Senior Lecturer with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (National University of Singapore). He is active in post-graduate medical training and is a Faculty Member of the NHG-AHPL Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Programme.

Dr Wee has been an invited speaker at international conferences, and has likewise been engaged as an instructor at local and regional surgical courses. He has been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and has also been invited to be a journal reviewer.
