Singapore Patient Conference 2021

Synopsis

Into its ninth year, the Singapore Patient Conference (SPC) is a dedicated patient conference with a difference – one where patients, caregivers, volunteers, community partners, health and social care professionals come together to share their care journeys and spark new ideas in co-creating a better health and social care system for all. SPC is organised by the Centre for Health Activation in partnership with Central Health, National Healthcare Group (NHG), NHG Polyclinics, Institute of Mental Health and Yishun Health.

This year, our conference theme is "Empowering a Healthy Community Through Patient Education". We recognise that patient education has shifted from a one-way transfer of knowledge from healthcare professionals to patients, to a journey of co-creation. As we learn from one another, we understand and empower each other to make shared decisions concerning our health. When everyone is equipped with the skills, knowledge and confidence to self-manage their own healthcare, we can eventually build a community that cares and looks out for one other. Through interactive activities and lots of educational content, we hope to empower our community to live well, live healthy and live happy in a cohesive effort to build a community of carers.
