PrEP Care Clinic

Introduction

PrEP stands for pre-exposure prophylaxis. The PrEP medication is given to a HIV-uninfected individual who is at high risk of being infected with HIV.

PrEP is very effective if the medication is taken regularly as prescribed. Studies show that the effectiveness of PrEP can be up to 96% in patients who are adherent to the medication.

Eligible individuals include:

  • Adults > 18 years of age
  • HIV-negative
  • Any sex partners in the past 6 months and at least one of the following:
    • Sexual partner with HIV infection
    • Recent bacterial Sexually Transmitted Infection
  • If you are concerned of your risk of infection with HIV
