Dr David Lye is a Senior Consultant at the Institute of Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology (IIDE), Communicable Disease Centre, and Department of Infectious Diseases, Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), Singapore. 

He graduated from the University of Melbourne, completed his internal medicine training at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne, and infectious disease training at Westmead Hospital, Sydney, and Barwon Health, Victoria, Australia.

The range of patients he sees at Specialist Outpatient Clinic J, Clinics 4A and 4B at TTSH include:-

  • HIV
  • infections in immunocompromised
  • bone and joint, mycobacterial, fungal and complex infections

At IIDE, he oversees the training and education unit, and is currently co-chair for information technology development for the upcoming National Centre for Infectious Diseases. He is co-principal investigator of the STOP-dengue translational clinical research programme and is the lead for Singapore Infectious Diseases Clinical Research Network (SCRN). His research interests are adult dengue, antimicrobial pharmacotherapy, stewardship and resistance.

Active in medical education, he is adjunct associate professor with Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.

His professional leadership roles include: censor of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore; vice-president of the College of Physicians, Singapore; president of the Society of Infectious Diseases (Singapore); and chairperson of the National Antimicrobial Stewardship Expert Panel, Ministry of Health. He serves on the executive committee of Action for AIDS, a non-governmental organisation in Singapore. He is the local network organiser for Asian Network for Surveillance of Resistant Pathogens (ANSORP).
