Dr. Paul Ong graduated from University of Cambridge.  He became a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1996 and was subsequently elected as Fellow of Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) in London and Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC) in 2008.

He completed his early medical training in some of the most prestigious London teaching hospitals including St Thomas’, University College and King’s College Hospitals.  He obtained a British Heart Foundation Junior Fellowship to carry out research work with Professor Peter Collins at the National Heart and Lung Institute. The findings had been published in peer reviewed journals including the Lancet, Circulation and American Journal of Cardiology.

Dr. Ong obtained his cardiology specialist training in NW Thames gaining dual accreditation in Cardiology and General Medicine. He was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in both specialties in 2004.   He was a NHS Consultant Interventional Cardiologist and Cathlab Director at the Lister Hospital, Herts and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Trust until 2008. 

He is currently a Senior Consultant and Head of Interventional Cardiology Service in the Department of Cardiology.  Besides general cardiology, his specialty interests are in interventional cardiology and device therapy. As a high volume operator he has done well over 2000 angioplasties and continues to perform over 200 new cases annually.

Dr. Ong has lectured and presented in numerous international meetings and has traveled to various parts of Asia to proctor and support new cardiac units.
