We provide services that can be split into five different disciplines:

1. Diabetes Foot Ulcer Management

Diabetic patients are prone to a variety of health related complications, especially in the foot.

How can podiatry help you?

Podiatrists can assist in all aspects of healing diabetes-related foot wounds. This ranges from:

  • Removal of dead skin / debris in and around the ulcer
  • Ulcer cleansing
  • Selection of appropriate dressings
  • Footwear advice
  • Manufacturing of foot devices to aid in wound healing

2. General Treatment Clinic

Beneficial if you have:

  1. Problematic Nails, e.g. ingrown toe nails, thickened nails, etc
  2. Skin Problems, e.g. corns, thick skin, warts, Athlete’s foot, etc

What you can expect:

  • Treatment of the problem, for example, removal of corns
  • Advice on how to prevent the problem recurring, and to reduce pain experienced
  • Footwear advice

3. Biomechanics Clinic

Beneficial if you have pain in the following areas:

  • Heel
  • Foot
  • Ankle
  • Knee
  • Hip
  • Lower Back

What you can expect:

We provide a thorough assessment of your condition, based on the symptoms that you present with at the clinic. This may include an assessment of your:

  • Joint position and mobility
  • Posture
  • Gait
  • Footwear (indoors and outdoors)

With the information gathered, the podiatrist will decide upon an appropriate treatment plan.

Management includes some or all of the following:

  • Stretching and strengthening exercises
  • How to select suitable shoes for your activities
  • Activity modification
  • Prescription of pre-fabricated or custom-made foot orthoses
  • Referral to other departments if needed, for example, physiotherapy and diagnostic radiology.

4. Diabetic Foot Screening Clinic

This clinic targets all people with diabetes to establish their current foot health status. It aims to prevent and reduce the need for major amputations amongst the diabetic population, through education and regular monitoring of the foot status.

What does it involve?

During the screening, the following will be done:

  • Blood circulation assessment
  • Sensation assessment
  • Visual check on your skin condition
  • Check for the presence of foot deformity

Based on the results of the screening, you will be provided with advice tailored to your needs. This includes:

  • Foot care advice
  • Footwear advice
  • Referral to other healthcare professionals (if needed)

5. Ward Rounds

This service aims to assess and manage our inpatients who may require podiatry intervention.

We will provide care and treatment relating to:

  • Diabetes foot ulcer management
  • General treatment
