Dr Chan Siew Pang
BSocSci Honours (NUS), MSc (NUS), MSc (University of London), PhD (NUS)

Dr Chan Siew Pang is an Assistant Director with the National University Heart Centre (Singapore) and Adjunct Associate Professor with the Centre for Behavioural Implementation Science Interventions, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. His co-appointment is Biostatistician, Cardiovascular Research Institute, National University Health System. ​ He started his career as Medical Statistician at Tan Tock Seng Hospital in 1997, and was sponsored to study at London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.

After completing his PhD in Industrial Engineering at the National University of Singapore, he was appointed by the SIM University (now rebranded as Singapore University of Social Sciences) to lead the Business Analytics programme. During his sabbatical leave he taught Statistics at La Trobe University, Australia, with his appointment sponsored by the Faculty of Science, Technology & Engineering and the Faculty of Health Sciences.

While taking up his current appointment he was engaged by the NUS School of Business to teach an introductory course in Business Statistics. With postgraduate training in Decision Sciences, Medical Statistics, Medical Decision Analysis and Financial Engineering, Dr Chan is keen to continue to upgrade his skills as a Quant.

Dr Louise Heyzer
MBBS, MRCP (UK), MMed (Int Med)

Dr Louise Heyzer is a Consultant at the Department of Geriatric Medicine, Woodlands Health Campus (WHC). She is a Member of the Clinical Education and Training Committee, WHC. She is a clinical tutor and faculty for NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and LKCMedicine. Her clinical interests are in orthogeriatrics and falls, with other interest in medical education.

Dr Herb Howard C. Hernandez
MD, GDGRM, FPCP, FPCGM

Dr. Herb Hernandez is a Senior Resident Physician and Deputy Quality Review Officer (QRO) at the Department of Geriatric Medicine, Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He is a Diplomate and Fellow of both the Philippine College of Physicians and Philippine College of Geriatric Medicine, and also a member of the American Geriatrics Society (AGS). He is an adjunct faculty and clinical tutor at NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and LKCMedicine. He finished his Graduate Diploma in Geriatric Medicine in Hospital and ILTC from the NUS and Academy of Medicine Singapore, and is also currently taking his Master of Science in Stem Cells and Translational Neurology at the University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom.

Herb has research experience and made journal article publications in topics like cognition, frailty and sarcopenia and have presented a poster that was selected for the Presidential Poster Session of AGS 2022.

Dr Lim Yen Peng
BSc (Nutrition & Dietetics, Hons)(UK), MHSc (Gerontology)(Aust), PhD (Clinical Dietetics)(Aust)

Dr Lim Yen Peng is Executive Director, NHG Cares Services (Allied Health) and Deputy Group Chief Allied Health, NHG. She holds an Adjunct Associate Professor appointment at Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) and is a faculty member with Clinical Practice Improvement Program (CPIP) at NHG and Centre for Allied Health and Pharmacy Excellence (CAPE). 

She co-chairs the MOH Dietitian Panel and leads the MOH Community Dietetic and Nutrition workgroup in the EatWise SG initiative to support population health through accessible, affordable, seamless and integrated nutrition care in the community. She has previously led inter-disciplinary projects in the areas of workforce & care transformation, and innovation in nutrition & dietetic care across the care continuum. Her research interests include geriatric & community nutrition, malnutrition, frailty, and food innovation.​

Ms Zhu Birong
BSc (Nursing), Adv Dip of Nursing (Critical Care), MSc (Nursing)

Ms Zhu Birong is an Advanced Practice Nurse with the Department of Geriatric Medicine, Tan Tock Seng Hospital. She obtained the Master of Nursing from the NUS Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies in 2005 and her clinical interests are in dementia care, delirium and frailty in the geriatric population. She is co-lead with Dr Lim Jun Pei (IGA's Translation & Practice Lead; Geriatrician Consultant) to set up the Special Care Unit for Older Adults with Delirium and Dementia in the hospital's sub-acute ward in 2017. Birong was awarded the Ministry of Health (MOH) Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) in 2019 for frailty front door management. Post-HMDP, she co-leads with Dr Edward Chong (Geriatrician Consultant) to develop the Emergency Department Intervention for Frailty (EDIFY).


Beyond clinical, Birong is also a faculty member of the Faculty of Advanced practice nurse intern Teaching (FAT), where she is actively involved in the teaching of nursing education and preceptor. Her research interests include cognition and frailty in the geriatric population and she has published articles in international peer-reviewed journals and was invited as a speaker for both local and international conferences.

Dr Chua Shiyun
MB BChir (Cantab), MPH, ABIM (Int Med, Geriatric Med)​

Dr Chua Shiyun is a Resident Physician in the Department of Geriatric Medicine, Tan Tock Seng Hospital. She is a clinical tutor and faculty for NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and LKCMedicine. She graduated from the School of Clinical Medicine, University of Cambridge. Subsequently, she completed her internal medicine residency in Boston, and geriatric medicine fellowship in Seattle, United States, and is dually board-certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine with the American Board of Internal Medicine. She holds a Masters in Public Health (Health Services) from the University of Washington, Seattle, United States.


She is motivated by a desire to enable older adults to age in community, and her research interests are in health system change, community primary care and population health, implementation science and qualitative research.

Dr Edward Chong
MBChB (UK), MRCP (UK), FAMS

Dr Edward Chong is a Consultant Geriatrician at Sunway Medical Centre, Bandar Sunway, Malaysia. He graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom, in 2008. He has also successfully obtained certification in MRCP (UK) in 2012 and the Geriatric Medicine Specialty Certificate Examination in 2015. 

His clinical and research interests include frailty and continence care in older persons, and front door geriatric care. He previously held multiple positions in Singapore prior to relocating back to Malaysia in December 2023. Some examples include program lead for the Emergency Department Interventions for Frailty (EDIFY), board member for the Society for Continence (Singapore), and Chair of the JCST Exit Exam Committee for Geriatric Medicine.​
