Biodata

Dr Chew Weida is a Consultant in the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore. He received his medical degree from the National University of Singapore in 2006 and obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK), Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) and Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine (GDFM) in 2012. Dr Chew attained his specialist accreditation in Gastroenterology in 2017 and was the Chief Resident in his final year of training.

He was awarded the Ministry of Health (MOH) Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) Award in 2022 to pursue advanced endoscopy subspecialty training with a focus on interventional endoscopy ultrasound (EUS) under the tutelage of Prof Wang at National Taiwan University Hospital. His subspecialty interest includes pancreato-biliary diseases (with special interest in IgG4), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), diagnostic and interventional endoscopic ultrasound (EUS). He is a member of the World Endoscopy Organization(WEO) and was invited as faculty for an Asian EUS Interventional workshop.

Dr Chew has an interest in advancing knowledge/practice of Gastroenterology in Singapore and currently serve as an executive committee member of the Gastroenterology Society of Singapore (GESS).

He is actively involved as both the organiser and faculty for local meetings such as GIHep, National Foundation for Digestive Disease(NFDD) Day, post graduate and endoscopy courses.

He is also passionate in medical education and is a clinical core faculty member of the NHG Gastroenterology Residency Program. He holds other various appointments such as adjunct Lecturer at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, clinical lecturer with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and clinical preceptor with the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies.

In addition to the clinical and committee work, Dr Chew is also active in research and is currently serving as a scientific member of the NHG Domain Specific Review Board. He is actively involved in clinical trials and has contributed to several research publications and presentations in the field of Gastroenterology & Hepatology.
