Biodata

Dr Faith Chia is a Senior Consultant in the Department of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore. She graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2002 and obtained the MRCP (UK) in 2005. After completion of her advanced training in rheumatology in 2009, she was awarded a Health Manpower Development Plan fellowship in musculoskeletal ultrasound and inflammatory arthritidis in the Centre for Rheumatic Diseases, Glasgow Royal Infirmary, United Kingdom under Professor Iain McInnes. Her areas of specialisation include Rheumatology and Allergy. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Glasgow) and a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Chapter of Rheumatologists.

Dr Chia is the Vice-President of the College of Physicians and President Elect of the College of Clinician Educators. She has received peer reviewed funding for research in rheumatoid arthritis and lupus nephritis and published her work in medical journals . She served on the institutional review board where she was the deputy chair from 2016-2024. Her current interest lies in burnout in health professionals and she has been instrumental in creating support structures for junior doctors. She is a member of junior doctor wellness committees at the Ministry of Health and National Healthcare Group.

Dr Chia teaches actively at both undergraduate and post-graduate level and has won teaching awards including the YLLSOM Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence, TTSH Best Teacher Award and YLLSOM Special Recognition Award. In 2020, she was the recipient of the NHG Education Leader Award, and in 2021, the American Council of Graduate Medical Education (International) Award for Physician Leaders. She is currently Adjunct Associate Professor with the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, National Technological University, Singapore, where she holds the role of Assistant Dean (Curriculum Lead), Designated Institutional Official for NHG Residency, and Director, Pre-professional Education Office, TTSH.
