Biodata

Dr Sean Ho is a Singapore trained Orthopaedic Surgeon. He currently serves as a Consultant in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr Sean Ho's practice focuses on shoulder, elbow, knee and sports surgery. His clinical interests are minimally invasive shoulder, elbow and knee surgery (keyhole), shoulder/elbow replacement surgery, shoulder/elbow instability surgery, knee ligament injury and cartilage injury.   

Dr Sean Ho graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2007. Thereafter, he entered the Orthopaedic surgery residency programme. He was awarded the best Orthopaedic Resident (NHG) award twice during his 6-year training program as well as the N Balachandran Memorial Lectureship Award in his final year of training. He also served as the President of the National Healthcare Group (NHG) Resident's Council from 2016/2017.

Dr Sean Ho was the Singapore representative for the ASEAN Orthopaedic Association Junior travelling fellowship in 2019. He was then awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan award from the Ministry of Health for sub-speciality training in Geneva, Switzerland. He successfully obtained a position for advanced Shoulder and Elbow surgery training under Dr. Alexandre Lädermann, where he learnt the pearls of complex procedures such as computer-assisted (navigation) shoulder replacement surgery, arthroscopic massive rotator cuff repair, soft tissue and bone block procedures for shoulder instability (Dynamic anterior stabilisation, Latarjet and Eden-Hybinette procedure) and revision shoulder replacement surgery. During this period of training, he also had the opportunity to operate with top shoulder and knee surgeons in Lyon and Rennes, France.

Aside from clinical work, Dr Sean Ho is also passionate about clinical research in order to advance his practice and to keep current with leading surgical techniques. He pursued his research interest by completing the Master of Clinical Investigation (MCI) at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in 2020. He has published extensively in local and international peer-reviewed medical journals, with over 30 published articles and book chapters. He has won best poster and best presentations awards at conferences, and was a finalist in the P Balasubramaniam Young Orthopaedic Investigator's award in 2016. He has obtained numerous competitive grants. In addition to research, Dr Sean Ho is also involved in teaching at both the undergraduate and residency level. He received the National Healthcare Group teaching award in 2018.

Dr Sean Ho is a member of the Singapore Orthopaedic Association (SOA), Asia-Pacific Knee, Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Society (APKASS) and European Society for surgery of the shoulder and the elbow (SECEC).
