Biodata

Dr Lin Huiyu is a Senior Consultant in the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and heads the department’s Inflammatory Bowel Diseases Service. In 2022-2023, Dr Lin was clinical and research fellow to eminent inflammatory bowel diseases specialist Professor Rupert Leong at Concord Repatriation General Hospital, Sydney and co-authored various academic medicine papers.

As a clinician, Dr Lin is recognised regionally for her expertise in inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), she is a member on the Emerging Leaders Committee of the Asian Pacific Association of Gastroenterology (“APAGE”) and has given expert evidence in judicial proceedings. Dr Lin is currently involved in the development of APAGE’s Guidelines for histology and on the use of biologics. Active in clinical research she is also site Principal Investigator for various clinical trials.

Dr Lin is also active in medical education, as Clinical Module Lead (Gastrointestinal System) at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University, Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, and as an examiner for the national Gastroenterology specialist examinations.

Dr Lin holds appointments at hospital and national levels, including serving as Tan Tock Seng Hospital’s clinical liaison for right-siting to ensure appropriate care across the healthcare cluster and primary healthcare providers for chronic, stable medical conditions, and is a member of the Singapore Medical Council’s Ethics Committee.

Alongside her clinical work and interest in the healthcare system, Dr Lin has a strong interest in the role of primary care in the treatment of gastrointestinal conditions and has organised several continuous medical education sessions for primary healthcare physicians.

Dr Lin obtained her Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery, and Masters of Medicine degrees at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and completed Gastroenterology senior residency with the National Healthcare Group, where she also served a term as Chief Resident for Internal Medicine. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore and a Member of the Royal Colleges of Physicians for UK and London.
