Biodata

Dr Ng Zhi Guang is an Associate Consultant in the Department of Gastroenterology & Hepatology at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore. He completed his medical degree (MBBS) from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2014 and obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) and Masters of Medicine (Internal Medicine) in 2018. He attained his specialist accreditation in Gastroenterology & Hepatology with the National Healthcare Group (NHG) and was Chief Resident for the NHG Gastroenterology Programme in his final year of training. He holds several professional memberships including that of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) and the Gastroenterological Society of Singapore (GESS).

Dr Ng's clinical expertise encompasses a wide range of gastroenterological and hepatological conditions, with a subspecialty focus on Bariatric endoscopic procedures for the treatment of Obesity. Besides being proficient in various procedures including gastroscopy, colonoscopy and video capsule endoscopy, his particular interests lie in advanced procedures such as endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG), gastric balloon implantation, and endoscopic salvage procedures for weight regain after bariatric surgery. He works closely with the Weight Management Clinic at Tan Tock Seng Hospital and is a member of the Singapore Association for the Study of Obesity. He has attained the Basic Obesity Management Accreditation (BOMA) and has completed the Practical Obesity Management Skills (POMS) course.

Dr Ng is committed to both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, serving as Physician Faculty for the NHG Gastroenterology Residency Programme. He holds academic appointments as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University, and as a Clinical Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. His contributions to medical education and clinical practice have been recognised with awards including the NHG Teaching Award in 2019.

In addition to his active involvement in research and clinical trials, Dr Ng has contributed to several research publications and presentations in the field of Gastroenterology & Hepatology. He has spearheaded several quality improvement efforts within the department, including the nurse-led administration of rescue bowel preparation at the Endoscopy Centre.

Fluent in English, Mandarin and Teochew, Dr Ng is committed to providing his patients with high quality care through patient education and evidence-based medicine.
