Biodata

Dr Vishal is a general surgeon trained in open, laparoscopic and robotic hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery and diagnostic foregut and hindgut endoscopies. He is involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training; and received hospital, cluster and medical school level various teaching awards. He serves as Clinical Educator Lead(Medical) and Director of Surgical Science Training Centre at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Dr Vishal has published 280 papers and 20 book chapters with H-index of 46. He has contributed to many international guidelines, international conferences as speaker, and serves on editorial board of international journals. He serves as a board member of Chapter of Surgeons, College of Surgeons, Singapore. He is the founding member of Singapore HPB association.

Dr Vishal is involved in various surgical quality and patient safety initiatives. He is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) from National Association for Healthcare Quality. He has conducted local primary care and public seminars/forums to raise cancer awareness and drive patient-centric value driven safe surgical care. Dr Vishal has keen interest in healthcare ethics and is an active member of institutional clinical research and ethics committees. He is also involved in national organ transplant ethics committee and serves as a chairperson of Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He serves as Associate Director with Centre of Medical Ethics and Professionalism at Singapore Medical Association.
