Clinical Associate Professor Wong Hon Tym is the Medical Director of Singapore’s National Healthcare Group Eye Institute (NHGEI) and the Clinical Director of the Centre for Healthcare Innovation (CHI). CHI is an open co-learning network organization, primarily focused on healthcare workforce transformation.

He was also the Pro-Tem Chief of the Ophthalmology Department at the upcoming Woodlands Health Campus, while continuing to serve as a Senior Consultant in Tan Tock Seng Hospital’s Ophthalmology Department and as a member of the hospital’s Medical Board.

From 2008-2015, he was Clinical Director of NHG 1-Health, a community ambulatory surgery centre, where he led and sustained the design and practice of a streamlined cataract surgery value-added process (VAP).

A/Prof Wong obtained his Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) and his Masters degree in Medicine (Ophthalmology) in 1999.

A/Prof Wong was awarded Singapore’s Ministry of Health Manpower Development Programme scholarship in 2002, and underwent his clinical fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital, UK, where his sub-specialty training focused on optic nerve head imaging in glaucoma. His research projects, covering topics such as glaucoma surgery, anterior segment imaging and therapeutics have been published in major peer-reviewed journals and presented at conferences such as ARVO.

A/Prof Wong plays an active role in the training and education of junior ophthalmologists in Singapore, and his efforts were with multiple Best Teacher Awards. He has been mentor to four clinical fellows and has been a course instructor at the American Academy of Ophthalmology Meeting, the World Glaucoma Congress and the European Glaucoma Society Congress.

His efforts in quality patient care have also been recognized with Singapore’s Excellent Service Star Award in 2006. His current appointments as Critical Incident Manager and Open Communication instructor reflects his keen interest in the area of patient communication. In 2013, A/Prof Wong received the Distinguished Service Award from Khoo Teck Puat Hospital for Eye and Vision Health, and in 2014 he was the proud recipient of the National Healthcare Group Outstanding Citizenship Award.

Clinical A/Prof Vernon Yong, Senior Consultant of NHG Eye Institute @ TTSH underwent a one-year fellowship at the Lions Eye Institute in Perth, Australia.

A/Prof Yong chose to be a glaucoma specialist as he realized that the population was an ageing one and the numbers of glaucoma patients would steadily increase over the next decade or so. Involvement in population screening is A/Prof Yong’s other area of interest. Drawing on his long- term leadership in clinic management at NHG Eye Institute @ TTSH, A/Prof Yong has assumed the post of Head of the Department of Ophthalmology.

Dr Alex Lau is currently a Senior Consultant with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute (NHGEI) @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

He completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Southampton, United Kingdom, in 2001. He underwent postgraduate training in Ophthalmology locally and obtained his specialist accreditation in 2011. He was conferred Masters of Medicine (Ophthalmology) from the National University of Singapore in 2008 and attained Fellowships with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (Ophthalmology), Royal College of Ophthalmologists (London) and the Academy of Medicine Singapore.

He was awarded Singapore Ministry of Health Manpower Development Program scholarship in 2013 and underwent a clinical fellowship at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre, United Kingdom, where he was trained in Cornea and External Eye Disease.

Dr Lau is active in both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. He has been appointed as Clinical Senior Lecturer with Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore; Clinical Teacher with Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University of Singapore; and Core Clinical Faculty Member with the NHG Residency Program.

His areas of clinical interest include Cornea & External Eye Disease, Refractive Surgery, Cataracts and General Ophthalmology. He is active in clinical research and have presented in ophthalmology conferences both locally and internationally.

Adjunct Associate Professor Augustinus Laude is a Senior Consultant at the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute, Tan Tock Seng Hospital with clinical and research interest in medical retina diseases, cataract surgery, low vision and medical technology. He has completed a 2-year fellowship in the field of age-related macular degeneration and ocular imaging at the Princess Alexandra Eye Hospital, NHS Lothian, Edinburgh, UK.

He has published on a range of eye and vision-related topics in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, and has also been invited regionally and internationally to speak and conduct instruction courses. He is active in medical education and has been invited to be clinical examiner for the National University of Singapore, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Universiti Sains Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi Petronas, Malaysia.

He is appointed Adjunct Associate Professor at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine Nanyang Technological University and is Visiting Consultant at National University Hospital, Singapore. He is actively involved in clinical trials (including EVEREST, HARRIER, KITE, RHINE and LUCERNE) as well as entrepreneurial activities in collaboration with engineering colleagues in the field of image processing and eye-gaze tracking.

Dr Chin Chee Fang is a Senior Consultant with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute (NHGEI) @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Dr Chin obtained her Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery from the University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom. She completed her Ophthalmology specialist training in Singapore, where she was awarded medals for Best Candidate in Cataract, Cornea and Glaucoma at the exit examinations. She has attained the Masters of Medicine in Ophthalmology from the National University of Singapore, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, as well as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore.

Dr Chin was awarded the Ministry of Health Training Scholarship and underwent a 12-month clinical fellowship in Neuro-Ophthalmology at the National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery in London, United Kingdom, where she trained under Drs James Acheson, Fion Bremner, Elizabeth Graham and Gordon Plant. Her clinical interests are Neuro-Ophthalmology, visual rehabilitation and general ophthalmology including cataract surgery.

Dr Chin is currently the Head of Subspecialty of Neuro-Ophthalmology, as well as the Chairman of the Clinic Management Committee in the Ophthalmology department. Dr Chin is also active in teaching medical students, residents and fellows, and is a National Examiner with the American Board of Medical Specialties (Singapore) and a member of the Ophthalmology Exam Working Committee.

Associate Professor Colin Tan is a Senior Consultant ophthalmologist and Clinician-Scientist from the Department of Ophthalmology, Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He completed a Fellowship in Medical Retina and Retinal Imaging at the Doheny Eye Institute, University of Southern California, Los Angeles, USA.

A/Prof Tan manages patients with retinal conditions such as age related macular degeneration, retinal vascular diseases, polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy and diabetic retinopathy, and performs ocular surgeries such as cataract extraction. A/Prof Tan has received the National Medical Research Council Transition Award. In addition, he has received numerous academic and scientific awards such as the Clinician Investigator Award and the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute Alcon Research Prize. He has over 120 publications in international journals such as Ophthalmology, Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science, American Journal of Ophthalmology, British Journal of Ophthalmology, Eye, and the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

A/Prof Tan has also presented at the annual meetings of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), American Society of Retinal Specialists, and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS). His research interests include vitreoretinal conditions such as age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy; myopia and its complications; cataract surgery, epidemiology, and retinal imaging techniques.

In addition to an active clinical practice and research, A/Prof Tan also has a keen interest in education throughout his career. has received education awards such as the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.

Dr Eugenie Poh is a Senior Consultant with the NHG Eye Institute@ TTSH. She graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, and Masters of Medicine (Ophthalmology) from the National University of Singapore. She then completed a 12-month Surgical Fellowship programme in Oculoplastics, Orbital and Adnexal Surgery in Adelaide, South Australia, under the mentorship of internationally renowned surgeon Professor Dinesh Selva.

She has published in peer-reviewed medical journals and has given invited talks at major international medical conferences. She is currently a fellow with the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, and the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. She was appointed as a Clinical Teacher with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, and also as Adjunct Teaching Faculty at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.

Her specialty interests include cataract surgery, eyelid reconstruction and lacrimal surgery. She champions Patient Education and Community Eye Screening in the Department of Ophthalmology.

Dr Fam Han Bor is a Senior Consultant with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Dr Fam is active as a clinician, researcher and instructor, having given over 100 presentations in international and regional conferences.

His research has been published in leading peer-reviewed ophthalmology journals such as the Journal of Cataract Refractive Surgery, the Journal of Refractive Surgery, the American Journal of Ophthalmology and the British Journal of Ophthalmology. As an educator, he has conducted numerous LASIK instructional courses, medical-in-service and live surgeries throughout Asia. He is widely sought after as a respected global key-opinion leader in the field of phacoemulsification, intraocular lens design, refractive surgery, corneal topography, ocular wavefront aberrations and visual optics. He has a keen interest in the design and optimising of new phacoemulsification and intraocular lens technologies. He is an active member of the prestigious IOL Power Club, an expert group dedicated to improving cataract outcomes.

His research interests lie in Visual Optics, Wavefront Science, IOP Calculations, Corneal Topography, Contact Lens and Eye Modeling and Biofilms.

He graduated from the National University of Singapore, with a Masters in Medicine (Ophthalmology) and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. He received his subspecialty training in cornea and refractive surgery at the University of British Columbia, Canada.

Clinical Associate Professor Heng Wee Jin is Deputy Medical Director of the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute (NHGEI) and Deputy Clinical Director of Singapore Eye Bank. He is also the Past President of the College of Ophthalmologists, Academy of Medicine of Singapore.

Clin Assoc Prof Heng is Head and Senior Consultant of Cornea Service and Refractive Surgery in NHGEI. As a nationally and internationally recognised specialist in corneal diseases, refractive and cataract surgery, he is particularly experienced in performing LASIK, PRK, Corneal Transplantation, Excimer Laser PTK, Phakic Intraocular Lens implantation, Corneal Cross-linking, as well as managing Keratoconus, Corneal Dystrophies, Recurrent Corneal Erosions, Contact Lens-related problems, and other diseases of the cornea and ocular surface. He was instrumental in setting up the Hospital Cornea Donation Programme in Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) in 2003.

Clin Assoc Prof Heng graduated with Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 1990 and Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) in 1996 from the National University of Singapore (NUS). He obtained his Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) in 1996 and from the American College of Surgeons in 2004. He completed his Cornea & Refractive Surgery Fellowship at the world-renowned Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia in 2000, which has been repeatedly ranked among the top 3 Eye Hospitals in USA for the last 40 years.

He is a Clinical Associate Professor in Ophthalmology at YLL School of Medicine of NUS and Adjunct Associate Professor at LKC School of Medicine of Nanyang Technological University.

Clin Assoc Prof Heng has published numerous medical articles as well as co-authored a book entitled Colour Atlas and Synopsis of Cornea and External Eye Diseases. He has been invited to speak at medical conferences and performed live demonstration surgeries in Cataract, Cornea, and Refractive Surgery in numerous countries such as USA, China, India, Italy, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam. He has also been an instructor in many LASIK and ophthalmic microsurgery courses. Since 2003, he has mentored and trained many local and international ophthalmologists in refractive, cataract, and corneal transplantation surgeries and has received multiple Best Surgical Teacher Awards at NHGEI.

He is the Chairman of the Ophthalmology Exit Examination Committee of the Joint Committee on Specialist Training, the Chief Examiner of the American Board of Medical Specialties (Singapore) Ophthalmology Examination, and a member of the Residency Advisory Committee for Ophthalmology.

Clin Assoc Prof Heng has served on many national committees including the Specialist Training Committee for Ophthalmology, Ministry of Health (MOH) Advisory Committee on Organ Transplantation, MOH Contact Lens Practitioner Board, and Singapore Society of Ophthalmology.

He is a recipient of numerous awards in his career, including the MOH Distinguished Senior Clinician Award (2020), MOH Human Manpower Development Plan Overseas Fellowship Awards (1999 & 2010), Asia Pacific Association of Cornea and Refractive Surgery Educator Award, Spring Singapore Excellence Service Star Award, National Healthcare Group Service Champion Award, TTSH Staff Excellence Gold Award, and Khoo Teck Puat Hospital Distinguished Service Award for Eye and Vision Health.

Dr Ho is a medical graduate of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1995, and also obtained a Masters diploma in Medical Science (Physiology) in 1997.

She underwent higher specialist training in ophthalmology in Ireland and subsequently trained in the ophthalmic subspecialty of uveitis at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in the Scotland. Her research interests include intraocular inflammatory disorders and Pseudoexfoliation syndrome. She has been awarded several prizes for her research including the Barbara Knox Medal at the annual conference of the Irish College of Ophthalmologists in 2001 for her work on “The role of tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase-1 in Pseudoexfoliation syndrome” and the Registrar’s Prize at the Royal Academy of Medicine in Ireland meeting in 1999. She has also been awarded the International Glaucoma Association Research Grant and the Mater College for Postgraduate Education Research Grant in 2001. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh.

Dr Ho is currently a Senior Consultant ophthalmologist and has been working in Tan Tock Seng Hospital since 2006. Besides comprehensive ophthalmology and cataract surgery, she is also experienced in managing uveitis and other sight-threatening intraocular inflammatory disorders with immunosuppressive agents.

Dr Karen Chia is a Senior Consultant with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore. She received her medical training from the National University of Singapore. She underwent postgraduate training in Ophthalmology, and was awarded Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) from the National University of Singapore. She is a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and was subsequently elected Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, upon completion of her specialist training.

Her areas of clinical interest include Medical Retina, Cataracts and General Ophthalmology. She completed a clinical fellowship in Medical Retina at the NHG Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital. She is part of the Singapore Integrated Diabetic Retinopathy Programme (SiDRP) team that won the National Healthcare Group team recognition (Silver award) and National Clinical Excellence Team award.

She participates in clinical research and has presented in ophthalmology conferences both locally and internationally.

She is active in medical undergraduate education and holds the appointment of Clinical Teacher, Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University and Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.

Adjunct Asst Prof Leonard Yip received his medical degree from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom in 1995. He subsequently received his Masters degree in Medicine (Ophthalmology) from the National University of Singapore. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, United Kingdom and a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore. He is also a member of the American Glaucoma Society.

As a recipient of the Ministry of Health Human Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) scholarship, Dr Yip completed a Fellowship in Glaucoma with the University of British Columbia, Canada under the mentorship of Professor Frederick Mikelberg and the esteemed faculty of the Eye Care Centre, Vancouver.

Dr Yip is currently a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist in the Department of Ophthalmology, Tan Tock Seng Hospital and NHG Eye Institute. He is the Head of the Glaucoma Service, NHG Eye Institute. He also holds the appointment of Adjunct Assistant Professor, Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University and Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. Besides general eye diseases, expertise in the area of cataract surgery includes the use of toric and multifocal intraocular lenses. Expertise in the management of glaucoma includes laser peripheral iridotomy, selective laser trabeculoplasty, trabeculectomy, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, aqueous shunt (tube) surgery, goniosynechiolysis and transcleral cyclophotocoagulation.

Aside from clinical practice, Dr Yip is active in clinical research and has published in numerous international ophthalmology journals. His research interests are in glaucoma, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, visual fields, optic nerve head and retinal nerve fibre layer imaging. His keen interest in training and education has led him on to the role of ACGME Core Faculty Member.

Dr Lim is currently a Senior Consultant with National Healthcare Group Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital. She received her cataract and glaucoma training at the Sydney Eye Hospital/Save Sight Institute in Australia and Mayo Clinic in Florida, United States. She has more than 20 years of experience managing glaucoma patients and practises a full range of glaucoma surgeries including the latest micro-invasive glaucoma surgery and goniotomy. Her other interest is cataract surgery including Femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery.

Dr Lim is also a champion for patient’s education and training of primary eye care professionals including general practitioners and optometrists. She is also an advocate for Glaucoma Patients Support Group. She has been contributing to the training of eye care professionals at the Lighthouse Eye Centre, Mombasa, Kenya. Dr Lim has been appointed Mental Wellness Officer for her department.

Dr Lim Su Ann is currently a Senior Consultant with National Healthcare Group Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

She was trained in adult and paediatric neuro-ophthalmology and strabismus at the Dean A McGee Eye Institute in Oklahoma City, under the supervision of Drs Siatkowski and Farris.

She has a special interest in motility problems of neurologic origin. She is also interested in the epidemiology of neuro-ophthalmic diseases in Singapore and was the principle investigator for setting up of the first Singapore-wide neuro-ophthalmic database, supported by a grant from the National Healthcare Group.

Adjunct Professor Lim Tock Han is the immediate past director of NHG Eye Institute, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore.

He was fellowship trained in Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Mn, USA. Among his clinical and research interests are Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and Polypoidal Choroidal Vasculopathy (PCV). He has pioneered the use of Confocal Scanning Laser Indocyanine Angiography (CSLO-ICGA) in the region for the diagnosis and treatment of PCV, culminating in the setting up of the region’s first reading centre for PCV imaging (Fundus Imaging Reading Centre, FIRC) and the EVEREST Trial (by Novartis), the first prospective randomized controlled trial of PCV.

He was the founding Designated Institutional Official for the NHG-AHPL Residency Programme, one of first institution worldwide accredited by Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education International (ACGME-I).

He is a Clinical Associate Professor in Ophthalmology at the National University of Singapore, Division of Graduate Medical Studies; as well as Adjunct Professor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Nanyang Technological University and an Adjunct Professor at the Universiti Kebangsaan, Malaysia. He was also the founding President of the College of Ophthalmologists Academy of Medicine (Singapore).

Adjunct Professor Lim is the Group Chairman Medical Board of National Healthcare Group, Singapore.

Dr Llewellyn Lee is currently a Senior Consultant with National Healthcare Group Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He completed a year-long fellowship in Seoul under the esteemed Professor Kim Yoon Duck at Samsung Medical Center, and has a sub-specialty interest in oculoplastics.

As Head of Training & Education, as well as the inaugural Programme Director of the NHG Ophthalmology Residency Programme, he oversees the training of future ophthalmologists that come through our department. He has been awarded the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education International (ACGME-I) physician educator award, and has been an invited speaker at local and international ophthalmic and medical education conferences.

Dr Melissa Tien is a Consultant with National Healthcare Group Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore. She completed her medical training at the Imperial College School of Medicine, London and Ophthalmology specialist in Singapore, where she was awarded the medals for Best Candidate in the Generic (General knowledge and Medical ethics) and Cataract Surgery categories at the Ophthalmology exit examinations. She is also a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.

Dr Tien underwent a 12-month fellowship at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Melbourne, where she trained in Neuro-ophthalmology and Visual electrophysiology under the supervision of A/Professor Owen White, Dr Neil Shuey and Dr Heather Mack. She also had the privilege of training in visual electrophysiology under Professor Graham Holder at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. Her research work includes the use of the ocular-motor system as a surrogate marker of cognitive inhibitory impairment and the characteristics of patients with visual snow syndrome. Apart from her neuro-ophthalmology practice, Dr Tien also specialises visual electrophysiology, which is used to evaluate a variety of visual disorders including unexplained visual loss.

Dr Nicola Gan is a Senior Consultant with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Deputy Head of the Vitreo-Retina Service.

Dr Gan completed her undergraduate medical training at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2007, where she graduated with Bachelor degrees in Medicine and Surgery and was placed on the Dean's list, with Distinctions in Medicine and Biochemistry. She underwent postgraduate training in Ophthalmology and was awarded Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) from the National University of Singapore in 2011 and subsequently elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (London) in 2014. She completed her local Ophthalmology specialist exit exam in 2014 and was awarded Gold Medals for being the Best Candidate in Retina, Uveitis, Glaucoma, and Paediatric Ophthalmology. She was also a recipient of the Ministry of Health Training Scholarship in 2009 and completed her overseas fellowship training in Surgical and Medical Retina at the University of Toronto from 2015-2016. Dr Gan is currently a member of the American Society of Retinal Specialists.

Dr Gan's areas of surgical interest are in Surgical Retina and Cataract. She specializes in vitrectomy surgery for retinal detachments, pathological myopia-related diseases, diabetic eye disease, macular surgeries and ocular trauma. Dr Gan also runs a Medical Retina practice, which includes more commonly, the treatment of age-related macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease.

Dr Gan is active in research and has presented at multiple local and international Ophthalmology conferences. She was awarded the NHG Eye Institute Allergan research prize for best paper presentation (Junior Category) in 2008 and 2010, the NHG Eye Institute Award of Distinction for best paper presentation (Intermediate category) in 2013, and the Singapore Eye Foundation Award for 1st runner up paper presentation (Senior Category) in 2014.

Dr Gan is active in undergraduate medical education and has been appointed as a Senior Clinical Lecturer with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS and Core Clinical Tutor with Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, NTU. She was a student mentor to the pioneer batch of students at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine in 2013-2014 and received the NHG Teaching Award for Junior Clinicians in 2013.

Dr Rajagopalan Rajesh is currently the Head of Vitreoretina and a Senior Consultant at the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He completed his postgraduate training in ophthalmology at Madras Medical College Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Chennai, India.

He was a university topper in his post graduate diploma in ophthalmology and was the best outgoing student of his batch during his Master of Surgery (ophthalmology). He underwent vitreo-retinal fellowship training at Sydney Eye Hospital, Sydney. His special interest is in diabetic retinopathy but he is also very experienced in the management of vitreo-retinal conditions and age-related macular degeneration. He specialises in complex retinal detachment surgery.

Associate Professor Rupesh Agrawal is a Senior Consultant - Clinician Scientist at National Healthcare Group Eye Institute @Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

After completing his residency and fellowship in Uveitis and Ocular trauma from Sankara Netralaya, Chennai (1999-2003), he was a faculty member at Shri Ganapati Netralaya, Jalna (2003-2008) and L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, India (2008-2009). After being awarded the NMRC overseas research training fellowship, he spent time at Moorfields Eye Hospital (MEH), London with Prof Carlos Pavesio and completed his MD (Res) training fellowship at Institute of Ophthalmology, University College London (UCL) (Nov’ 2012 – Oct’ 2014) and is now associated with Institute of Ophthalmology as Research Associate and as Honorary consultant with MEH. His clinical areas of expertise are ocular inflammatory disorders (uveitis) including ocular tuberculosis and HIV and ocular trauma.

He has published many articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented several papers, lectures on uveitis and ocular trauma. He is a recipient of numerous grants for basic-translational science projects pertinent to ocular inflammation and drug delivery. He is associated with Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI) as Co-Head of Ocular infections and antimicrobials, with Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) as Associate Professor and as Adjunct Associate Professor with Eye ACP Programme at Duke NUS Medical School.

His key research areas of interest are: Development of sustained release drugs for back of the eye, Novel biological markers for ocular inflammation, Characterising red blood cell behaviour and its implications in diabetic retinopathy. Choroidal vascular imaging using index first published by him: Choroidal vascularity index.

He is currently secretary of the International Society of Ocular trauma and Asia Pacific Ophthalmic Trauma Society. He was conferred with the Healthcare Humanity Award by President of Singapore (2011) and President Volunteerism Philanthropy Award (PVPA) in 2018 for his humanitarian work across the island and Asia. He also serves as an examiner for Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians, Glasgow, UK.

Dr Yeo Tun Kuan is currently a Senior Consultant with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Dr Yeo completed his medical training at University College London, United Kingdom in 2004. At the same time, he also obtained a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience with first class honours. Dr Yeo was conferred Masters of Medicine (Ophthalmology) in 2010. He subsequently attained Fellowship with the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (London) in 2013, and is also a Fellow with the Academy of Medicine Singapore.

Dr Yeo is active in research and has published in various peer-reviewed journals and has been involved in several research grants. His current research interests are in biometry and anterior segment surgery. His areas of ophthalmic practice include anterior segment, cataract and general ophthalmology with particular interest in complex anterior segment and cataract surgery. He is currently the Head of Eye Operating Theatre Services.

Dr Audrey Pang is a Consultant with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

She completed her undergraduate medical training at the University of Cambridge, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine (2007), Bachelor of Surgery (2006) and a Bachelor of Arts (2004). She earned her Master of Medicine in Ophthalmology in 2012 and completed her specialist Ophthalmology training in 2015. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (London) and the Academy of Medicine (Singapore).

Dr Pang actively contributes to undergraduate medical education and has been appointed as a Senior Clinical Lecturer with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS and Clinical Tutor with Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, NTU.

Dr Pang is a Paediatric Ophthalmologist and Strabismus surgeon. She completed a clinical fellowship at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust from 2016-2017. She also completed short clinical observerships at Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute (USA) and at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (UK, London).

In addition to her experience in General Ophthalmology and Adult Cataract surgery, Dr Audrey Pang’s specialist practice is in Strabismus and Paediatric Ophthalmology. She sees patients with childhood myopia, amblyopia, paediatric cataract and other paediatric eye disorders, and her surgical interest is in performing strabismus surgery for both adults and children.

Dr Bryan Ang is a Consultant with the Glaucoma Service at the National Healthcare Group (NHG) Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore.

Dr Ang completed his undergraduate studies at the National University of Singapore (NUS), where he graduated on the Dean’s List for multiple academic years, was awarded a Distinction in Surgery and recognized as the 2nd Best Candidate in Surgery in his cohort. He further obtained his Masters in Medicine (Ophthalmology) from NUS, receiving the Gold Medal as the best candidate in the examinations. Upon completion of his specialist training, Dr Ang was elected as a Fellow of both the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (London) in 2016 and the Academy of Medicine Singapore in 2017. In 2017, Dr Ang served as Deputy Chief Resident at the NHG Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Dr Ang sub-specializes in Glaucoma and Cataract Surgery. His work in glaucoma surgery and surgical techniques, particularly in Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery, have been recognized internationally, winning prestigious awards such as the 2nd Best Surgical Film Award at the World Glaucoma Congress 2019 and the Best Video Award at the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Annual Meeting 2021. Dr Ang is a regular speaker and instructor at regional and international conferences, including the Asia-Pacific Glaucoma Congress, AAO Annual Meeting and the World Ophthalmology Congress. Dr Ang is active in both teaching and research. He has published more than 25 scientific papers in international journals and previously won the NHG Eye Institute research prizes for the Best Paper Presentation (Intermediate Category) in 2014 and the Runner-Up Best Poster Award (Open Category) in 2018.

Dr Ang is passionate about delivering quality clinical care. In 2014, Dr Ang was awarded the Singapore Health Quality Service Award (Silver) for outstanding clinical service. He is currently the Department Quality Reporting Officer for the NHG Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Dr Francine Yang is a Consultant with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Dr Yang received her undergraduate medical training from the National University of Singapore and graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2006. She then earned her Masters in Medicine (Ophthalmology) in 2011. In 2014, she completed her specialist training in Ophthalmology and was inducted as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine (Singapore).

She was awarded the National Healthcare Group Health Manpower Development Plan Award in 2017 and went on to complete a one-year clinical fellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada.

Her areas of ophthalmic practice include general ophthalmology and cataract, with a special interest in Paediatric Ophthalmology, myopia, and strabismus in both adults and children. She has a keen interest in clinical research and has presented at numerous local and international Ophthalmology conferences.

Dr Yang also plays an active role in undergraduate medical education. She has been appointed as the Deputy Lead for Ophthalmology and Adjunct Teaching Faculty with the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University; and also serves as the Posting Co-ordinator in Ophthalmology and Clinical Senior Lecturer with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.

Dr Jacob Chin is a Consultant with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute (NHGEI) @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Dr Chin completed his undergraduate medical training at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2010. He obtained his Masters of Medicine in Ophthalmology in 2016, and successfully completed his Ophthalmology specialist training in 2018. He has completed his Clinical Fellowship in Medical and Surgial Retina in NHGEI, Department of Ophthalmology, Tan Tock Seng Hospital (Singapore) in 2020. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine (Singapore), and a Fellow of the The Royal College of Ophthalmologists (London).

Dr Chin is active in clinical research, having presented in many conferences both locally and internationally, and has published internationally. He was awarded First Prize for oral paper presentation (Junior Category), at the National Ophthalmology Residents Research Day (Singapore) in 2015.

Dr Chin is active in undergraduate medical education and has been appointed as Adjunct Teaching Faculty with both the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University since 2016, and received a Medical Teaching Recognition award from Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine in 2017.

Dr Chin’s areas of specialty interest include Medical and Surgical Retina, Cataract and General ophthalmology.

Dr John Wong is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and fellowship- trained anterior segment surgeon with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute (NHGEI) @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital. The primary focus of his clinical practice is in the management of both routine and complicated cataracts, which includes femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery, subluxated cataract management, lens fixations, iris repair/implants and premium intraocular lenses. He is also experienced in the management of all general ophthalmic conditions.

He obtained his Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine and Masters of Medicine in Ophthalmology in 2012, and is a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (UK).

In 2018, he received the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) award from the National Healthcare Group (NHG) and underwent further specialist training overseas. He completed an observership in the assessment of quality of vision in Heidelberg University Eye Clinic/David J Apple Laboratory, Germany. This was followed by a 12-month fellowship in anterior segment/lens fixation surgery in 2019 at Meir Medical Centre, Israel.

Dr Wong has presented his research in conferences both locally and internationally, and has published numerous scientific papers in international ophthalmology journals. He serves as the deputy lead of the Clinic Management Committee in NHGEI. He also holds teaching appointments as Senior Clinical Lecturer with NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and Clinical Teacher with NTU Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.

Dr Koh Yan Tong is a Consultant with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute (NHGEI) @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Dr Koh completed her undergraduate medical training at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2012, where she graduated with Bachelor degrees in Medicine and Surgery, and was placed on the Dean’s list in 2009-2011. During her undergraduate days, she underwent a medical elective under Prof. Albert S. Jun at Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Hospital (Baltimore, USA) in 2011. She was subsequently a recipient of the Ministry of Health Training Award for the Ophthalmology Residency programme, and underwent postgraduate training in Ophthalmology, where she was awarded the Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) from National University of Singapore in 2017, and successfully completed her Ophthalmology specialist exit examination in 2019. She is undergoing her Clinical Fellowship training in Paediatric Ophthalmology in NHEGI and is also currently a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (UK) as of 2019.

Dr Koh is active in clinical research, having presented in Ophthalmology conferences both locally and internationally, as well as published scientific papers in multiple peer-reviewed international Ophthalmology journals. She is also involved in community service and participated in various projects locally and in the region.

Dr Koh is active in education and teaching, and she has served as both chief resident and chief senior resident during her residency. Currently, she is an appointed Clinical Tutor with Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University of Singapore.

Dr Koh’s areas of clinical interest include Paediatric Ophthalmology, Cataracts and General ophthalmology.

Dr Ngo Wei Kiong is a Consultant with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute (NHGEI) @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Dr Ngo graduated from the National University of Singapore, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in 2009 and obtained the Masters of Medicine (Ophthalmology) in 2016. During residency, he served in leadership positions such as Chief Resident and Chief Senior Resident. He also completed the Singapore Chief Residency Programme under the Healthcare Leadership College, Singapore. He is a Clinical Lecturer with National University of Singapore, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Clinical Teacher with National Technological University, Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.

Dr Ngo is actively involved in the field of Retina research and has developed a keen interest in Diabetic retinopathy and Age-related macular degeneration. He has authored and co-authored more than 40 publications in book chapters and peer-review journals. Dr Ngo has also garnered numerous local and overseas research accolades. Local awards include Singapore Clinician Investigator Award (Gold) 2016 and Singapore Young Investigator Award (Gold) 2015 in Singapore Health and Biomedical Congress, best oral and poster presentations in National Healthcare Group Eye Institute International Ophthalmology Congress 2014 and National Ophthalmology Residents’ Research 2014. Overseas awards include best oral and poster presentations in Asia-Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstruction Surgery Oculoplastic Congress 2012 and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Symposium 2014. Dr Ngo also holds research grants from the NHG Clinician- Scientist Preparatory Programme, TTSH Pitch-for-funds Programme and NHGEI seed funding.

Dr Ngo’s clinical interests include Medical Retina, Cataract and General Ophthalmology.

Outside academia, Dr Ngo was awarded Sword of Merit in the 71st Medical Officer Cadet Course in the Singapore Armed Forces and was a former national shooter who represented Singapore in various tournaments including the 2001 South-East Asian (SEA) Games.

Dr Rosalynn Grace Siantar is a Consultant with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute (NHGEI) @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Dr Siantar obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from University College London, United Kingdom and graduated with Distinction in Medical Sciences and Merit in Clinical Neurosciences. She was conferred Master of Medicine in Ophthalmology by the National University of Singapore and has successfully completed her Ophthalmology specialist training. She is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (UK).

Dr Siantar is actively involved in undergraduate medical education and has been appointed Clinical Teacher at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University and Clinical Tutor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.

She is also actively involved in the development of Primary Eye Care, where she is part of a multidisciplinary team that will focus on facilitating the transition of quality eye care into the community.

Dr Siantar has a keen interest in clinical research and has presented her work at many local, regional and international conferences. She has also published numerous scientific articles in international peer-reviewed journals.

Dr Siantar's areas of clinical interest include Cataract and General Ophthalmology.

Dr Tan Xiu Ling is a Consultant Ophthalmologist with the National Healthcare Group (NHG) Eye Institute at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Dr Tan completed her undergraduate medical training at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2008. She underwent postgraduate training in Ophthalmology and was awarded Masters of Medicine (Ophthalmology) in 2013. She obtained her specialist accreditation in 2016. She is also a Fellow with the Academy of Medicine Singapore.

Dr Tan was awarded the Singapore Ministry of Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) Scholarship in 2018 and completed a one-year overseas clinical fellowship training in Neuro- ophthalmology and Low Vision Rehabilitation at Vancouver General Hospital, University of British Columbia, Canada under Professors Jason Barton and Mary-Lou Jackson.

Dr Tan also has a strong passion for training and education. She is actively involved in both the undergraduate medical education and the NHG Ophthalmology Residency Program. She was awarded Best Teacher Award (Registrar & Medical Officer Category) in the department for 3 consecutive years 2014 – 2016. She has been appointed Clinical Lecturer and Core Faculty Tutor of both NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, since 2013.

Dr Tan also played a major role in the tele-ophthalmology service, which was awarded Tan Tock Seng Milestone Award in 2015. Her areas of ophthalmic interest include neuro-ophthalmology, low vision rehabilitation, cataracts and general ophthalmology.

Dr Thng Zheng Xian is a Consultant with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute (NHGEI) @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Dr Thng completed his undergraduate medical training at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2012 where he graduated with honours and as class valedictorian, garnering multiple awards and distinctions in anatomy, physiology, microbiology, pathology and surgery.

He subsequently obtained his Masters of Medicine (Ophthalmology) from the National University of Singapore in 2016 and successfully completed his Ophthalmology specialist exit exam in 2018 and was awarded Gold Medals for being the Best Candidate in Neuro-ophthalmology, Oculo-plastic & Adnexal Disease and Paediatric Ophthalmology.

Dr Thng has a strong passion for training and education and believes in advocating for students and residents alike. He has served as both chief resident and chief senior resident during his training days and has been a member of the National Healthcare Group Residents' Council, Residency Program Review Committees and the Singapore Chief Residency Program amongst others.  Currently, he serves as a Clinical Lecturer with Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University of Singapore.

Dr Thng's areas of clinical interest include medical retina, uveitis, ocular immunology & inflammation, cataracts and general ophthalmology. He is active in clinical research and have presented in many ophthalmology conferences both locally and internationally.

Dr Vivien Yip is a Consultant with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Dr Yip completed her undergraduate medical training at St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry, United Kingdom in 2006, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. Subsequently, she earned her Masters of Medicine in Ophthalmology in 2012, and successfully completed her specialist Ophthalmology training in 2016. She is also a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine (Singapore).

During her Ophthalmology training, she was appointed chief medical officer and chief registrar in 2009 and 2016 respectively. Dr Yip also completed a 2-year fellowship in Glaucoma with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital from 2017-2019. During her training, Dr Yip was mentored by Professor Ike Ahmed in Glaucoma and Anterior Segment Surgery at Prism Eye Institute and Trillium Health Partners in Toronto, Canada. Dr Yip currently serves as the Deputy head of Glaucoma at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Dr Yip is also instrumental in establishing Optometrists as Primary Eye Care Providers and currently serves as the Deputy head of the General Ophthalmology Service at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

In the area of Ophthalmic research, Dr Yip has presented and published in numerous conferences and journals both locally and internationally. She was awarded 2 research grants and also achieved the Merit award for her oral presentation at the NHG Eye Institute International Ophthalmology Congress in 2013. She is currently involved in Glaucoma and Primary Eye Care research.

Dr Yip is also a Clinical Lecturer with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore and the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Singapore.

Dr Yip’s areas of interest include Cataract, Glaucoma, Primary Eye Care and General Ophthalmology.

Dr Helen Mi is an Associate Consultant with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute (NHGEI) @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

She completed her undergraduate medical training at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2014, where she graduated with Bachelor degrees in Medicine and Surgery. Dr Helen's area of clinical interest include surgical vitreo-retina, medical retina, cataracts and general ophthalmology. She is active in education and teaching, and she has served as both chief resident and chief senior resident during her residency. Currently, she is appointed as a Clinical Tutor with Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University of Singapore.

Dr Jeremy Hu is an Associate Consultant with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute (NHGEI) at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Dr Hu completed his undergraduate medical training at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, where he graduated with Bachelor degrees in Medicine and Surgery. He was awarded the Ministry of Health Training Award for the Ophthalmology Residency program and underwent postgraduate training in Ophthalmology. He obtained his Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine in 2018 and was awarded the Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) from National University of Singapore in 2019. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (UK) as of 2019. He joined the Fellowship of the Academy of Medicine in 2021.

Dr Hu is active in clinical research, having presented in Ophthalmology conferences both locally and internationally, as well as published scientific papers in multiple peer-reviewed international Ophthalmology journals. He is also involved in community service and participated in various projects locally and in the region.

Dr Hu is active in education and teaching, and he has served as both Chief Resident and Chief Senior Resident during his residency. Currently, he is an appointed Clinical Tutor with Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University of Singapore.

His areas of clinical interest include Cataracts and General Ophthalmology.

Dr Kelvin is an Associate Consultant with the Department of Ophthalmology, Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He is currently a fellow with the Neuro-Ophthalmology sub-specialty.

He completed his undergraduate medical training at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2011 and obtained his Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) in 2019. He joined the Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (United Kingdom), and the Fellowship of the Academy of Medicine in 2021.

Dr Kelvin was Chief Medical Officer in 2018 and Chief Registrar in 2020 for the NHG Ophthalmology programme. He was also part of the Singapore Chief Residency Programme (SCRP) 6th Cohort in 2019. Currently, he is active in training junior doctors in leadership roles through his participation in the Resident Engagement and Leadership (REAL) committee.

Dr Kelvin has presented at various international, regional, and local conferences. He was awarded the Achievement Award from the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology in 2019. He was also part of AI Singapore - AI for Industry Batch #4 and completed foundational training in AI with Python. His research interest is in ocular imaging and application of data science and artificial intelligence in the field of Ophthalmology, and healthcare.

Dr Jeanne Ogle is a Principal Resident Physician with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

She completed her undergraduate medical training at the University of Science, Malaysia, where she graduated with a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1994. She earned her Masters of Surgery in Ophthalmology from the National University of Malaysia in 2000 and she is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists of Edinburgh.

Dr Ogle actively contributes to undergraduate medical education and has been appointed as a Clinical Lecturer with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS and Clinical Tutor with Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, NTU.

In addition to her experience in General Ophthalmology and Adult Cataract surgery, Dr Ogle’s interest is in Glaucoma.

Dr Tam is a Principal Resident Physician at National Healthcare Group Eye Institute @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH). She is a member of the Cornea and Refractive Surgery Service. She is also one of the key trainers for optometrists for TTSH’s Primary Eye Care (PEC) team.

Dr Tam underwent her basic medical training in Australia and graduated with B.Sc. (Medicine), M.B.B.S., from the University of New South Wales, Australia in 1995. She obtained her F.R.C.S. (Ophthalmology) from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 2003. Dr Tam underwent training as a clinical fellow in Cornea and Refractive Surgery in Tan Tock Seng Hospital in 2005.

Apart from being an eye clinician and surgeon, she has a keen interest in grooming TTSH’s optometrists to be primary eye care providers for the Stable Eye Condition Clinics (SECC) and Community Eye Clinics (CEC). Since 2013, Dr Tam has been working closely with the TTSH’s PEC committee to provide clinical guidance to TTSH’s optometrists, mentoring them to be competent eye care professionals to deliver more timely and accessible eye care for the people in Singapore. Dr Tam was also a clinical tutor for University of Manchester-Singapore Polytechnic Optometry Degree Course from Year 2010 to 2014. She was also a mentor to photo-graders for TTSH’s reading centre for Singapore Integrated Diabetic Retinopathy Programme (SiDRP).

Dr Tam actively contributes to undergraduate medical training and she is one of the appointed clinical teachers to undergraduate medical students of Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, as well as for Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.

Dr Tam is an Ophthalmologist who sees general eye conditions. She has special interests in conditions of the Cornea and works closely with the Corneal and Refractive Service in TTSH.
