Today, it is estimated that by 2030, 1 in 4 Singaporeans or 23.8% will be aged 65 and above.

In 2014, TTSH consolidated its ambulatory services in geriatric medicine to open its Centre for Geriatric Medicine. It also set up the Institute of Geriatrics and Active Ageing (IGA) to focus on research and training to better serve Singapore's ageing population.
