The building was officially opened on 9 May 2019, to support CHI's mission to co-learn and co-innovate with like-minded institutions and agencies for a better healthcare tomorrow.

The building's physical connection to Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine), National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) and Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) catalyses more harmonised and exciting developments to be shaped by healthcare workers of the present and future.

Incidentally, the outdoor deck on level 2 of CHI is a good spot to see how the various HealthCity partners are physically connected. A multitiered urban plan spreads activity across basement, ground and above-ground levels connected via underground linkways, skybridges and walkways. This is also a good spot to watch the sunset in Novena!

As a pioneering healthcare institution with strong roots in Novena, it was important to ensure that as HealthCity took shape, it could grow sustainably within the community. The Ng Teng Fong Centre for Healthcare Innovation was designed as a space where the community can come together to turn ideas, such as for sustainability, into real-life applications. Explore CHI for green innovations, a wood mural and furniture repurposed from the trees of Novena.

The viewing deck at level 2 offers the best sunset view in Novena.
