Dr Tan Xiu Ling is a Consultant Ophthalmologist with the National Healthcare Group (NHG) Eye Institute at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Dr Tan completed her undergraduate medical training at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2008. She underwent postgraduate training in Ophthalmology and was awarded Masters of Medicine (Ophthalmology) in 2013. She obtained her specialist accreditation in 2016. She is also a Fellow with the Academy of Medicine Singapore.

Dr Tan was awarded the Singapore Ministry of Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) Scholarship in 2018 and completed a one-year overseas clinical fellowship training in Neuro-ophthalmology and Low Vision Rehabilitation at Vancouver General Hospital, University of British Columbia, Canada under Professors Jason Barton and Mary-Lou Jackson.

Dr Tan currently is the Head of Vision Rehabilitation Service, as well as the Deputy Head of Neuro-Ophthalmology. She has a strong passion in the training and education of medical students, residents, and fellows. She was awarded Best Teacher Award (Registrar & Medical Officer Category) in the department for 3 consecutive years 2014 – 2016. She is appointed Faculty Core Clinical Tutor and Adjunct Lecturer with Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, NTU. She serves as Senior Clinical Lecturer with Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. Dr Tan is also active in clinical research and has presented in many ophthalmology conferences both locally and internationally. She holds research grants in LKC ALIVE Serious Game Grant, TTSH Community Fund CAPE grant and TTSH Pitch-for-fund programme.

​​Dr Tan's areas of interest include neuro-ophthalmology, low vision rehabilitation, cataracts and general ophthalmology.
