2022 Asian Hospital Management Awards - Gold Award in the Infection Control Excellence Category
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, our Department of Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC), led by Adj A/Prof Brenda Ang, Emeritus Consultant, has expanded their surveillance and protocols to ensure that our staff continue to remain safe as they care for our patients. The team actively conducted N95 mask fitting exercises and trained our staff on the proper steps to don and doff Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). They also made special adaptations for staff who wear headgear for religious reasons. The team frequently collaborated with other departments to ensure a safer environment for staff and patients. Some of these collaborations have resulted in the development of face shields, automated UV machines to complement existing cleaning methods and installation of exhaust fans in all hospital wards etc.
Patient care has many touchpoints requiring a whole-of-hospital approach to infection prevention and control.”
