In the ICU, waking up can feel overwhelming — machines, alarms and unfamiliar surroundings. Our Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) team brings early Occupational Therapy right to the bedside, using familiar photos, music and routines to help patients stay grounded and connected during critical moments.
Alongside this, Singapore’s first SICU Befriender Programme trains volunteers to offer presence, conversation and gentle engagement when families can’t be close. Together, our clinicians, therapists and volunteers create an environment where patients feel safe, supported and never alone in their recovery.
💛 Because even in critical care, healing begins with connection.
