Good vision is essential for the safe operation of a motor vehicle. Driving with poor vision puts the driver and other road users at risk of harm.

Drivers of all classes of vehicles under the age of 65 have to undergo an eyesight test and declaration of fitness at driving centers. Drivers age 65 and above are required to undergo a medical examination once every three years by a registered medical doctor to be certified fit.
