Parkinson's diseases( PD) is a complex neurodegeneratie condition. People living with advanced PD suffer from limited mobility, severe motor deficits, increased risk of falls, autonomic dysfunction, cognitive and psychotic problems; all of which dramatically impair theri quality of life. Dompminergic medications can significantly improve symptoms, however , treatment efficacy reduces over time and is often accompanied by complications such as dyskinesia and motor fluctuations. Worsening motor and cofnitive function, together with drug-induced motor complications, represents a major challenge. Rehabilitative interventions play a key role as the disease reaches its more debilitating stages, because pharmacological or surgical treatment becomes less relevant. The spectrum of motor and non-motor complications in advanced PD and their implications on rehabiltiation will be emphasized in this course. Evidence-based review of therapeuti options in the management of motor disability will be discussed in this course.
