Job Shadowing (Allied Health and Nursing)

A-Level Students / Polytechnic Graduates / Mid-Career Switcher

Individuals who are keen to explore a career as an Allied Health Professional or Nursing are welcome to apply for a voluntary Student Job Shadowing Attachment with us.

Through this attachment, you will get to observe first-hand the work life of the different healthcare professionals and interact with them to better understand the profession.

Below are some of the disciplines that we offer attachments. If you are interested to have a Student Job Attachment with us, please kindly drop in your interest via the Expression of Interest Form.

Allied Health

Focus on helping patients with hearing impairment or loss of hearing to rediscover their hearing. Involve the use of state-of-the-art equipment to assess, diagnose and provide recommendations of suitable hearing technology hearing aids to better help patients in their hearing management.

Perform a wide range of radiographic examinations such as Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Mammography, Ultrasound, and others to produce images of the body that would support Radiologists in their clinical diagnosis and during interventional radiological procedures.

Responsible for the nutritional care and management of patients to ensure optimal nutrition care delivery essential for their recovery. This includes conducting of nutrition assessments, diagnosing nutrition problems, and recommending nutrition care plans by working closely with Doctors, Nurses, Food Service teams, and other Allied Health Professionals.

Provide psychosocial support to patients their families to better help them cope with the sudden burden of their medical conditions. This involves the collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team to develop post-discharge care plans, financial counselling, linking up with community partners and offering caregiving advice.

Perform clinical examination of blood cells, DNA and body fluids of patients to identify anomalies, chemical content, drug reactions that would aid doctors in their diagnosis of patient’s medical conditions and enhance the treatment interventions.
