Dear Partners and Friends,

2023 promises to be an exciting year heralding a sea change in our healthcare system. In this first issue of the year, we look at Central Health's largest subzone of Hougang, home to some 227,000 residents of all ages and walks of life.

The demographics of this subzone and the evolving healthcare landscape in Singapore as we gear up for a primary care-anchored Healthier SG mean that there are many new initiatives springing up in the neighbourhoods like flowers after a storm. Home Nursing Foundation (HNF) shares more about how they encourage seniors to take charge of their own health at HNF new Active Ageing Centre (Care) in Buangkok.

We also welcome a new approach to resident outreach with grassroots organisations; the official opening of the Jalan Kayu Community Health Club sees public and private organisations coming together to care for a wider group of residents outside of the existing health and social care network.

We also concluded Central Health Action & Learning Kampung (CHALK) 2022 and witnessed the blooming of new ideas and collaborations. We will take a look back at the highlights of the hybrid event.

As we continue our journey into 2023, I look forward to all the ways we will continue to care for the residents of Central Singapore together.

Yours Truly,
Loh Shu Ching
Executive Director,
Division for Central Health
Tan Tock Seng Hospital & Central Health
