Dear Partners and Friends,

While all of us serve the residents of Central Singapore through the provision of social and health care, we also work alongside a large group of people whose contributions to the wellbeing of our residents cannot be overstated.

These volunteers, who come from all walks of life, devote their time and energy to help their fellow neighbours through activities, performances, or even just a friendly chat. COVID-19 forced volunteer activities to come to a halt during Circuit Breaker, and even as on-site volunteering is  slowly resuming, there is a change in the way these activities take place.

In this issue, we explore how our partners have enabled their volunteers to continue bringing joy to and engaging residents and clients with the aid of  technology. Residents at Lions Home for the Elders now enjoy small-scale parties and group sessions through Zoom conferencing, while Thong Teck Home partnered with new volunteer groups to conduct on-line exercises for their residents. Clients of Fei Yue Community Services and Methodist Welfare Services have benefited from phone or video befriending services to keep staff and volunteers updated on clients' wellbeing. Care Corner also shares their journey in training their carers through a virtual platform.

Caring for residents and our loved ones takes a village, and this coming month brings with it a slew of online activities and talks in conjunction with the upcoming Singapore Patient Conference (SPC). The annual SPC celebrates caregivers and brings together patients, caregivers, and partners to share and learn together. Do join us for this year's virtual edition of the SPC to learn  and experience for yourself how COVID-19 has changed the way we give and receive care!

Yours Truly,
Ms Loh Shu Ching
