Health screening plays an important role in detecting any underlying diseases even if you feel perfectly well without any signs and symptoms of the disease. Many diseases such as diabetes, stroke and heart disease are known as silent killers, and often, the symptoms of these diseases may not be obvious. With early detection through regular health screening, followed by appropriate treatment, any abnormality detected can be managed and this will lower the risks of serious complications.

The Health Enrichment Centre in Tan Tock Seng Hospital is a one-stop centre that offers health screening programmes designed to suit every individual's health needs. Our dedicated team of doctors and nurses will assess your health profile together with you, and recommend the relevant screening tests based on your lifestyle and personal and family histories.

We will then review your screening results, offer medical advice and lifestyle counselling, as well as provide you with a personalised medical report.

As recommended by Health Promotion Board, below is a table of general screening tests that is recommended for everyone:

TTSH is an approved service provider of Health Promotion Board (HPB) offering a variety of health programmes for companies and organisations under the Workplace Alliance for Health Scheme and SME Health+.

Workplace Alliance for Health Scheme

Designed for medium to large private companies with a workforce of above 200 employees, the Workplace Alliance for Health (WAH) Scheme offers grants to eligible companies for their workplace health programmes.

In this scheme, TTSH has an Advanced Package that is suitable for companies who wish to focus on targeted interventions for individuals at risk of developing diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. The companies can choose to have one or more of the health programmes, and pay only the co-funded amount.

HPB SME Health+

Designed for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) with a workforce of below 200 employees OR annual sales turnover of not more than $100M, the SME Health+ scheme offers grants to support SMEs in their health promotion journey.

In this scheme, our HPB-approved programmes are co-funded at 70% up to a cap, and the companies can choose to have as many programmes as they want. Our programmes include:

  • Fully funded health screening for eligible participants
  • Physical activity at Gym@TTSH or at your company premises
  • Mental wellbeing health talk with different topics to choose from

The Health Enrichment Centre provides clinical examination and completion of medical report services for pre-employment/re-employment, applications for local/overseas (Germany, Japan, Taiwan, United Kingdom, United States of America) university education, immigration and certification of fitness to meet statutory requirements.

On your appointment day, please bring along all relevant documents, forms and identification card (NRIC/Work Pass/Passport/MOM In-principle approval (IPA)) to the clinic for verification and registration purposes.

Prior appointment is recommended for any of the services above.

What should I do?

  • Fasting is required from the night before the appointment, i.e. do not eat or drink any flavoured drinks from 10.00pm onwards (only plain water is allowed). This will ensure better accuracy of your blood tests results.
  • If you are unwell, please reschedule your appointment as illness and medications (e.g. antibiotics) may affect your screening results.
  • Light refreshments will be provided at Health Enrichment Centre once your blood has been drawn by our nurse and/or after completing your ultrasound abdomen examination.
  • Bring a record of your past medical report (up to 3 years prior), existing medications or any vitamin supplements etc, if any. X-ray films are not necessary.
  • Please continue to take your medications before coming for your health screening appointment. If you are a diabetic patient, please do not take your diabetic medications on the morning of your health screening appointment.

For Stool Analysis (Stool for Occult Blood):

  • Avoid red meat and iron supplements 3 days before the appointment.
  • Collect about 2 teaspoons of stool and place in a small, clean plastic container and label it with your name. You may collect your stools on the night before (after 5.00pm), or on the morning of your health screening appointment.

For Urine Analysis:

Your collection of urine should be done 5 days after the last day of your period or 2 weeks before the first day of your period so as not to affect test results.

For Treadmill Stress Test:

  • Please bring along your running shoes and sports gear.

For Mammogram, Please Note the Following:

  • Avoid this examination if you are pregnant.
  • Arrange for your appointment about 1 week after your last day of menstruation.
  • On the day of the appointment, do not use talcum powder, deodorant or body lotion on the chest.
  • Do bring along mammogram films that were done up to 2 years prior for comparison.

For Ultrasound Abdomen:

  • Do not take any food at least six hours before the examination.
  • If you are a smoker, please refrain from smoking on the day of your appointment until after your ultrasound has been completed.

For Detailed Eye Screening:

  • Please remove your contact lens to allow us to carry out the test. We would suggest that spectacles be worn on the day of the appointment.

For Pap Smear:

  • Avoid sexual intercourse 48 hours before the test
  • Do not use spermicides, vaginal creams, lubricant jellies, vaginal medications or tampons 48 hours before the test.
  • Your pap smear should be 5 days after the last day of your period or 2 weeks before the first day of your period so as not to affect test results.

  • Letter of Recognition and / or staff identification for corporate accounts
  • Bring a record of your past medical report (up to 3 years prior), existing medications or any vitamin supplements etc, if any. X-ray films are not necessary.
