​​Urinary incontinence is the involuntary loss of urine - sufficient to cause social and/or hygiene consequences. This condition may be permanent or temporary. The Continence/Urology Nurse Clinician works closely with the​ Geriatricians and Urologists to provide support and counselling to patients with urinary incontinence. Additionally, they also provide pre & post operative assessment and management for patients undergoing total removal of bladder and/or prostate.

Our Services

  • Conduct assessment and manage urinary incontinence
  • Educate patient on pelvic floor exercises
  • Develop and implement individualised care that may include bladder re-education and dietary modification
  • Advise use of appropriate continence products
  • Pre and post-urological surgery counselling and management
  • Assist in urodynamic investigation
  • Perform ultrasound scanning of the bladder to measure residual urine
  • Educate caregivers or patients to perform intermittent catheterisation
  • Perform change and teach care of male/female catheterisation
  • Perform change and teach care of supra-pubic catheter
  • Perform change and teach care/change of nephrostomy and urostomy bag
  • Perform intravesical therapy
  • Perform Percutaneous Tibial Nerve Stimulation
  • Provide information and emotional support for newly diagnosed prostate cancer patients​
