Notice

Overstaying: Social over-stayers are patients who have been certified to be medically fit for discharge from acute care and assessed to have feasible discharge options, but continue to stay in acute hospitals for prolonged periods. To ensure that hospital beds are available to patients requiring acute care, Government subsidy, MediShield Life or Medifund will not be extended further after the patient is certified to be medically fit for discharge from the hospital, if the patient decides to remain in the hospital. Integrated Shield Plans (IPs) and Civil Service Medical Benefits will similarly not be extended further. This applies to all inpatient ward classes.
