Introduction to Continence and Urology Services

Urinary incontinence is the involuntary loss or escape of urine sufficient to cause social and/or hygiene consequences. This problem may be permanent or temporary. The Continence/Urology Nurse Clinician works closely with the Geriatricians and Urologists to provide support and counselling to patients, undergoing continence/urological investigations and surgery so as to have a better education/knowledge necessary to take care of the condition.

Our Services Include:

  1. Assessment and management of urinary incontinence
  2. Pre and post urological procedure counselling
  3. Assist in urodynamic investigations
  4. Perform an ultrasound scanning of the bladder to measure residual urine
  5. Teach carer or patients to perform Intermittent catheterization
  6. Perform change and care of male and female catheterization
  7. Perform change and care of supra-pubic catheter
  8. Perform change and care of nephrostomy / Ileal conduit bag
  9. Pelvic Floor Exercise
  10. Bladder re-education
  11. Use of appropriate continence aids
