Ang Ching Ching
Ms Ang Ching Ching began her nursing journey in 1997 after graduating from Nanyang Polytechnic. She furthered her expertise in Infectious Diseases Nursing in London and later obtained a Bachelor of Health Science (Nursing) from the University of Sydney. In 2008, she completed her Master of Nursing at the National University of Singapore.
Ching Ching joined the Department of Palliative Medicine as an Advanced Practice Nurse in 2009 after working for over a decade at the Communicable Disease Centre. She is part of a multidisciplinary team that supports patients with advanced illnesses. Her clinical interests include symptom management and palliative care for non-cancer patients.
Beyond clinical work, she contributes actively to education and training in palliative care both within the hospital and nationally. She also serves on the APN auditing team to uphold safe prescribing practices.
Chia Gerk Sin
Ms Chia Gerk Sin is a Palliative Medicine Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) who graduated with merit from the National University of Singapore in 2009. She completed her Master of Nursing with distinction in 2015, earning the Lee Foundation Medal in Nursing, Libby Tin Peh Medal, and Wee Kim Wee Medal. In 2022, she obtained her collaborative prescribing license.
She played a pivotal role in establishing the first acute palliative care ward at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) and actively trains ward nurses in managing complex palliative care needs. Ms Chia contributes to quality improvement projects and research, and has presented her work locally and internationally.
She serves on the TTSH End of Life Taskforce and the Singapore Hospice Council CSPEM Subcommittee. She is also the TTSH lead for the APN Internship Training Programme and a faculty member of the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.
Fionna Yow Chunru
Ms Fionna Yow is an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) with the Palliative Medicine Department at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. She holds a Master in Nursing from the National University of Singapore and is a licensed collaborative prescriber. Formerly a critical care nurse in the Coronary Care Unit, she joined the department of Palliative Medicine in 2015 and played a key role during the COVID-19 pandemic in the Outbreak ICU.
In recognition of her contributions, she received The Efficiency Medal in the 2023 National Day Awards.
Ms Yow champions the integration of palliative care in intensive care settings and is part of the hospital’s ICU-Palliative Care workgroup. She also serves as the Nursing Champion for the National Strategy for Palliative Care Implementation Committee and is a faculty member in the TTSH APN Internship Programme. Actively involved in education, she speaks at public forums and international conferences. Her key interests include ICU consultative palliative care and healthcare communication.
Loo Seow Chein
Ms Seow Chein is an Advanced Practice Nurse in the Department of Palliative Medicine. She began her nursing journey with a Diploma in Nursing from Nanyang Polytechnic in 2011, followed by an Advanced Diploma in Medical-Surgical Nursing in 2015 and a Bachelor of Science (Nursing) from Curtin University Singapore in 2016. In 2022, she completed her Master of Nursing at the National University of Singapore under the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) Award.
She currently works in the Palliative Care ward, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to support patients receiving palliative and end-of-life care. Seow Chein also contributes to the Air Master Programme, which provides Palliative Pulmonary Rehabilitation for patients with chronic respiratory conditions in both inpatient and community settings.
Her dedication to education is reflected in her receipt of the National Healthcare Group (NHG) Teaching Award for nursing preceptorship in 2019.
