Serene Tan Leong Hwee
Serene Tan, Advanced Practice Nurse with
Rehabilitation Medicine at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, brings over 20 years of neuroscience nursing experience. She holds a Diploma in Nursing, an Advanced Diploma in Neuroscience, a Bachelor in Health Science (Nursing), and a Master of Nursing. She is a certified National Collaborative Prescriber since 2021. Before joining Rehabilitation Medicine, she served in roles including Clinical Nurse Educator and Neurosurgical APN at the National Neuroscience Institute.
Serene is passionate about
stroke rehabilitation and
caregiver support. Her research on continuity of stroke care was published in Qualitative Health Research, and her recent work on advance care planning appeared in Singapore BMJ Supportive & Palliative Care. An advocate for education, she mentors nurses and students, and co-developed neuroscience training programmes. She develops patient education materials and supports clinical education. Her appointments include Clinical Practice Facilitator with Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and Associate Faculty with Singapore Institute of Technology for Master In Rehabilitaion Nursing. She was APN Lead (2014–2021) and received the NHG Nursing Preceptor Award in 2017.
Alyssa Chua Xing-En
Ms Alyssa Chua is an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in Rehabilitation Medicine at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. She holds a Diploma in Health Sciences (Nursing) in Ngee Ann Polytechnic (2008), a Bachelor of Science (Nursing) from Curtin University (2011) and an Advanced Diploma in Nursing (Neuroscience) from Nanyang Polytechnic (2012). Her postgraduate qualifications culminate in a Master of Nursing from the National University of Singapore, and she obtained her Advanced Practice Nurse and Collaborative Prescribing licences in 2025. Her clinical interests focus on the management of individuals with spinal cord injuries, and she is committed to advancing patients’ quality of life through holistic evidence- based practice.
